Performances out of a baseball team's bullpen can be contagious, as the Yankees pen proved last night. After Freddy Garcia created a jam in the fifth inning,  relievers Eppley, Rapada, Chamberlain, Logan and Lowe combined to allow 4 runs on 7 hits, including 3 home runs, all leading to a 9-6 loss to the White Sox.Eppley, Rapada and Logan have been great all season long. • Since ALL yanks pitchers stank, it's a bit questionable to single out Joba.

True, bad pitching begets more bad pitchings and good pitching begets more good pitchings. Same is true with hitting.

It's also very possible that Yanks just happened to run into a hotter team for the night. It's not that the Sox is leading the division for no reason.

I have confidence with Girardi's handling of players...and their fragile professional egos. A fully recovered and effectively confident Joba might easily be crucial come September. He had done it before, lest we forget.
