Casey Crosby had one thing to prove to the Detroit Tigers Organization heading in to the 2011 season…simply that he could stay healthy. He responded in a big way, pitching in a career high 131 innings and earning a spot on the Tigers 40 man roster in the off season. Staying healthy has been the major roadblock in Crosby’s development after being drafted out of high school by the Tigers in 2007. Tommy John surgery shelved him for the entire 2008 season and further elbow problems limited him to just 12 innings in 2010.
When healthy, Crosby offers exciting raw ability and athleticism. His fastball routinely reaches the mid 90′s and Baseball America rated his curveball as the best in the Tigers Farm System. Most importantly is the fact that he offers this package from the left side, which could lead to an interesting debate during spring training. There appears to be one spot open in both the rotation and bullpen. While Crosby appears to a bit of a long shot now, he could offer a unique...

Detroit Tigers preview and predictions: Jhonny Peralta
Jhonny Peralta
Detroit’s favorite misspelt name had himself a hell of a 2011 campaign, hitting a career high .299 with 21 HR and 86 RBI. With that, Jhonny Peralta was named an All-Star. On top of having top tier offensive numbers for a shortstop, Peralta was as sure handed as they came, only committing 7 errors for a .988 fielding percentage. Having a better year than his career...
Veteran Slugger’s Hotfoot Trick Backfires; Young Pitcher Engulfed in Flames
Flaming Tiger. Screaming Teammates. Miguel Cabrera's hotfoot trick gets out of hand.
LAKELAND, FL (Sportsman’s Daily Wire Service) Tigers pitcher Jacob Turner is enjoying spring training and he expects the kind of good natured ribbing most rookies and second year players receive while playing along side veteran Major Leaguers. Unfortunately for him slugger Miguel Cabreraâ...
Tigers' Cabrera takes backseat to Fielder, Verlander
By STEVE KORNACKISpecial to FOXSportsDetroit.com
LAKELAND , Fla. -- The first thing that strikes you upon walking into the Detroit Tigers' clubhouse is that they no longer revolve around Miguel Cabrera. He has been the undisputed main man, the face of the franchise, since arriving from the Florida Marlins in 2008.
But now Prince Fielder is there to share center stage. And,...

Verlander's star shines sans bright lights
Justin Verlander is officially famous.
"Last night, I'm lying in bed watching 'Family Guy' on TV and one of my commercials comes on," he said earlier this week. "It's a pretty unique experience. I didn't know whether to watch or turn it off. It was kind of weird. I had done some stuff before, but it mostly aired on MLB Network. To see it on regular...
Tigers Shouldn’t Be In A Rush To Move Nick Castellanos Away From Third Base
Yesterday morning, as I was surfing around for Tigers chatter, the following tweet came across my timeline from Mark Anderson of TigsTown.com:
Why do people insist the #Tigers need to do something w/ Nick Castellanos b/c of Cabrera's move. He's two years away! #StopTheMadness

I was actually floored that there are folks...
Major part of Tigers' turnaround retires
Carlos Guillen is one of my favorites.
Because he didn't have perfect English skills, he was never a favorite with TV and radio reporters, but I always enjoyed his honesty.
Guillen was traded to Detroit from Seattle on Jan. 8, 2004, in exchange for Ramon Santiago and Juan Gonzalez. (No, not that Juan Gonzalez.)
His first season in Detroit was one of the rare times I didn&...
