Another Cubs Blog:
Randy Wells was once again sparkling, tossing 6 innings of 7-hit, 2 ER ball, walking none and K’ing 4. This kid has been a revelation and one of the biggest reasons they find themselves in striking distance despite the recent offensive doldrums. Marshall, Marmol, and Gregg all had uneventful outings to close the game.
The offense finally looked like what we expected. Patience was on full display, timely hitting made an appearance…all in all, a refreshing performance. Aramis Ramirez made an inauspicious return from the DL, going hitless. His timing is definitely a bit off, and it’ll probably be 10-15 days before he’s right again. Fukudome appears to be settling in nicely in the leadoff role. Both he and Lee had two hits, with one of Lee’s being an absolutely massacred home run. Soto also smoked a double. Soriano had a double as well, and Bradley earned 2 walks. Nothing fancy, but enough to win.
Javy Vasquez takes on Ryan Dempster tomorrow. Here’s hoping the Cubs net a series win.
