PLAYERS: Carlos Marmol
TEAMS: Chicago Cubs

Chicago Cubs closer Carlos Marmol isn’t likely to be traded before the start of the regular season. However, the team has told Marmol’s agent to expect a deal at some point this season, according to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Chicago Sun-Times. Chicago is expected to trade Marmol once he regains trade value this season and closer-in-waiting Kyuji Fujikawa establishes himself in the big leagues, according to Wittenmyer. Marmol is making $9.8 million in the final year of his contract. He owns limited no-trade rights, but he’s provided the Cubs with several teams he’d be willing to join. Marmol was an All-Star reliever in 2008 and maintained a 2.55 ERA while collecting 38 saves in 2010. However, he struggled with command last season, walking 7.3 batters per nine innings. Chicago is hoping he can get off to a quick start in order for his trade value to be increased. They will then be able to flip him in order to help expedite their rebuilding process. Chicago Cubs ramblings and honoring Harry Caray

“Hello again, everybody.” Those three words, while probably not as often said as, “I’ll have another,” were always on the tip of Harry Caray tongue.  A week after what would have been the amazing broadcaster’s 99th birthday, I wanted to lead this edition of Ramblings with a shout-out to the man that made me fall in love with baseball. (Editor’s note: this is by TSB...

Wrigley is Magic

I find myself waffling on this subject quite a bit, because as all Cubs fans do, I just want the best for the Cubs.  I want them to win, and to do that I want them to be able to make truckloads of money.  There are many obstacles preventing the Cubs from making as much money as they should given the brand name recognition, the history (most of it crap, but you know, we’re committed...
