Chicago Cubs Online:
Updated - 6:40pm CST - According to a report from Bruce Levine, the Cubs will announce on Wednesday they have signed Chad Tracy to a minor league contract. Tracy will compete with Micah Hoffpauir in Spring Training to be the left-handed bat off the bench. The Cubs will give Tracy a shot to serve as a backup to Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee.
According to Bruce Levine, Chad Tracy might be a Chicago Cub as early as this week.
Levine was asked about Tracy during his online chat Tuesday and said, "I've heard that deal is very realistic. It might happen this week." According to Levine, the Cubs could sign Tracy to a minor league deal to be a left-handed utility player.
