The Chicago Cubs would like to re-sign reliever Kerry Wood.
"He makes us a better organization," Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein said. "That's because of what he brings to the clubhouse as well as his leadership so I'd like to get him back in the fold and move forward with him."
Wood, 34, had a solid season as a setup man, going 3-5 with one save, 21 holds and a 3.35 ERA before he was shut down in September to undergo left knee surgery.
It was second stint with the Cubs after spending his first 10 years with the club.

Zambrano Has Sense Knocked Into Him
Carlos Zambrano is widely regarded as one of the biggest douchebags in MLB. Friday night some Karmic retribution happened in Venezuela where the troubled Chicago Cubs starting pitcher was hurling the ball towards a batter when said ball was struck back towards him, nailing him in the face. Cubs' Sveum not interested in team's past failings

On Friday, Dale Sveum did his best to put the past in place as he was introduced as the new Cubs manager.
"The past is the past no matter where you are,” Sveum said. “You’re...
Is Tyler Colvin Going to be Traded To the Boston Red Sox?
Tyler Colvin is rumored to be the player going to the Boston Red Sox as compensation for Theo Epstein. That would be the greatest thing of all time, as Tyler Colvin isn’t going to be a guy the Cubs were hoping he would be, and with the Cubs having a ton of talent in their outfield throughout the minor leagues- I don’t think anyone will miss Colvin.
Theo Epstein was worth...
Free Agent Stock Watch: Aramis Ramirez
Aramis Ramirez's free agency seemingly came at a great time. 2011 was his healthiest season since '08, and he bounced back offensively to win the National League's Silver Slugger award at third base. Also to his benefit: he's the only free agent third baseman likely to be viewed as a starter at the position.
The occasional trip to the disabled list had never...
