After the whole 'rest or surgery' debate before the season started, I figured that this moment would come eventually. Curt Schilling will undergo season ending surgery on his pitching shoulder next week. This could potentially be career ending as Curt said, "there is a pretty decent chance that I've thrown my last pitch forever." It's never good news for a team when they're told that a potential Hall-of-Famer (that's a whole different topic of discussion..) isn't going to return to the club. The good news is that the Red Sox have Justin Masterson and Clay Buchholz to fill in the rotation holes when needed. A situation like this is also exactly why the team signed Big Bartolo.

  • I dunno man, pickings are pretty slim. Sabathia is good but is he top prospect good? He's only 28 or 29 but that HUGE frame can't last long enough to sign him long-term so it would essentially be a one year trade. Same goes with Burnett who is a LOT worse than Sabathia and is already dealing with tons of injuries.

I don't think we'll see anything near what we did last season with the Bedard and Santana sweepstakes but time will tell!

    Good luck!
