Found June 30, 2012 on Holdout Sports:
New York Yankees center fielder Curtis Granderson hit a home run in the first inning of Saturday's 4-0 victory at Yankee Stadium over the Chicago White Sox. After rounding the bases, Granderson helped himself to a blue ice pop when he got back to the dugout.

With temperatures in the mid 90s and high humidity during Saturday's game, you can't blame Granderson for doing whatever he needs to do to cool off.

Jeter passes Ripken for 13th on career hits list

Derek Jeter hit a leadoff double in the first inning Friday night for his 3,185th hit, moving past Cal Ripken Jr. for 13th place on the career list. The 38-year-old Jeter grew up watching the former Baltimore shortstop and has often been likened to the Hall of Famer, playing the same position and spending his entire time with one team. Right after the milestone hit against the...

Derek Jeter gets hit by pitch in slo-mo

During Saturday afternoon's sweltering matinee in Yankee Stadium, Derek Jeter turned to avoid getting hit in the jewels by an inside pitch and— when replayed in slow-motion— it kind of looks like he was doing the Watusi or some other dance from the '60's. Whether or not Jake Peavy's fifth-inning throw was intentional, Jeter just shook it a little more and took...

Sabathia’s groin injury a result of Spiderman being lodged up his butt?

Did Spiderman just fly out of CC Sabathia’s derriere? What better way to advertise for the new Spiderman movie than to have the webbed-wonder shoot out of a 300lb pitcher’s a$$? You have to commend the New York Yankees and Warner Brothers Studios  for their interesting new advertising campaign. Sabathia’s groin injury a result of Spiderman being lodged up his butt...

Cano carries Yanks past White Sox

Phil Hughes fought the 95 degrees on the thermometer with zeros on the scoreboard. Hughes pitched eight efficient innings, Robinson Cano hit a tiebreaking two-run homer after wasting a chance with the bases loaded his first time up and the New York Yankees again rode the long ball to a 4-2 win Sunday over the Chicago White Sox for a series split between division leaders. '...

The Yankees Finally Do The Right Thing.

If you look carefully, you'll see a former Yankee fraud prospect named, Warren, sitting with hands folded in his lap, just behind the driver's farting ass.Well deserved.Out of town.  Out of my line of sight.

Celebs ring in Jeter's birthday

Injuries sidelining Yankee stars Andy Pettitte and CC Sabathia didn't dampen Derek Jeter's 38th birthday celebration in New York. The Yankee captain was joined by teammates Curtis Granderson and Andruw Jones at Southern Hospitality in Hell's Kitchen on Wednesday night. "Entourage" star Kevin Connolly, the Knicks' Carmelo Anthony and rap mogul Sean Combs...

Column: Baseball survives without instant replay

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By TIM DAHLBERG AP Sports Columnist This wasn't Little League, so Dewayne Wise wasn't about to fess up. Sportsmanship only goes so far when you're wearing pinstripes and playing in Yankee Stadium. Wise sold the third base umpire just by diving into the stands to catch a foul ball. For good measure, he held his glove in the air in triumph and gave...

Bleacher Creatures Call Out Legends

"Bald Vinny" and The Bleacher Creatures are doing the best to try and win me over. And it's working.Full disclosure.  I'm not a New York Yankees fan, but when it comes to saluting their one does it better.  Case in point...this year's annual Old-Timers Game.Good friend of The Hall, "Bald Vinny' Milano (the de facto leaders of The Bleacher...

BP Unfiltered: Just Forget About Match-Up Stats by Ben Lindbergh

In the first inning of Sunday's Yankees-White Sox game, Robinson Cano grounded into a double play off Gavin Floyd. In the third inning, he worked his way into a 3-1 count. Here's what happened then: That's an ugly swing, especially in a hitter's count. Cano certainly thought so. That prompted this exchange between YES Network broadcasters Michael Kay...

Yankees-Rays Preview

With two regulars missing from their rotation, the New York Yankees could sorely use some better performances from Freddy Garcia than the last time he was in the rotation. A visit to the struggling Tampa Bay Rays might help Garcia ease back into a starting role and enable the Yankees to end their seven-game skid at Tropicana Field on Monday night. New York (48-30) suffered two...

Yanks Acquire Chad Qualls

To make room for Quallls on the 40-man roster the Yankees have designated Matt Antonelli for assignment. The 33-year-old was 1-1 with a 4.60 ERA in 35 games for the Phillies this season. In 31.1 innings, the right-hander allowed 16 ER on 39 hits, walked 9, and struck out 19.
