ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Craig Gentry hit a two-out RBI single in the eighth inning and Matt Harrison combined with two relievers on a six-hitter as the Texas Rangers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 1-0 on Wednesday night.
Mike Napoli drew a leadoff walk in the eighth off rookie left-hander Wade Miley (7-3) before a sacrifice bunt by Yorvit Torrealba. After pinch-hitter Nelson Cruz struck out, Gentry, the No. 9 batter hitting .340, hit a hard one-hopper over the glove of third baseman Ryan Roberts into left field.
Mike Adams (1-2) retired the only two batters he faced after replacing Harrison, who has pitched 16 1-3 consecutive scoreless innings. Joe Nathan worked a perfect ninth for his 13th save in 14 chances.
Texas has won seven straight against the Diamondbacks, who were shut out for only the second time this season. The Rangers have won 28 of their last 40 games against National League opponents.

Unlike a former Texas Rangers pitcher who was voted by players to be the most overrated pitcher in baseball, Matt Harrison might be the most underrated. And that includes his own team. Before the season started, he was not even a lock for the rotation after posting a 4.2 fWAR season at 14-9 a season ago. Why doesn't Harrison inspire respect for his pitching? Frankly, it is baffling...
Texas Rangers right-hander Alexi Ogando is expected to miss four to six weeks with a strained right groin.
The Rangers placed Ogando on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, two days after he was hurt while running to first base on a bunt single at San Francisco. Ogando had thrown three perfect innings in his first start of the season in place of lefty Derek Holland, who is on the DL...
During yesterday's Texas Rangers/Arizona Diamondbacks affair, Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton lost his bat in the first inning while attempting to swing a pitch from Arizona's Ian Kennedy.
The bat would reach that stands and one fan made incredible one-handed snag to pull it in:

The Texas Rangers plan to purchase the contract of right-hander Justin Grimm from Double-A Frisco to start Saturday night against Houston.
The Rangers said Thursday that the promotion of Grimm for his major league debut and other corresponding moves will be made before Saturday's game.
When Grimm is purchased, Texas plans to put right-hander Koji Uehara on the 15-day disabled...
A return to Arlington helped the Texas Rangers find their hitting stroke.
The Arizona Diamondbacks may be more concerned about the AL West leaders giving the ball to Matt Harrison on Wednesday night.
The left-hander will try to win a career-best fifth consecutive start and lead Texas to a seventh straight home victory over Arizona.
After hitting .251 and averaging 3.1 runs on...
Remember what I said about the rotation being a mess last night? Yeah, well, apparently Matt Harrison took offense to that and decided to remind us all that he is not a mess.
Tonight, Harrison was outstanding. That six-pitch first inning was just a taste of what we’d see the rest of the game. He pitched 7.1 innings of six-hit, no-run baseball. And he didn’t want to stop...
Rangers right-handed pitcher Alexi Ogando is likely to miss 4-6 weeks with a strained right groin. Ogando, 28, joined Derek Holland and Pedro Feliz on the disabled list Monday after an MRI showed a muscle tear in his right groin. Ogando was making his first start of the season after pitching out of the bullpen and felt pain in his right groin beating out a bunt single in the...
The Texas Rangers have brought up top hitting prospect Mike Olt and optioned utility player Brandon Snyder to Triple-A Round Rock.
Olt's contract was selected Thursday from Double-A Frisco, where the corner infielder was hitting .288 with 28 homers and 82 RBIs in 95 games. Olt's homer total is tops in Double-A.
Olt was prominent in trade speculation before Tuesday's...

Now, that’s more like it. What I saw of tonight’s game looked a lot more like the team I enjoy watching. I won’t say “know and love” because I love my Rangers unconditionally … even when they’re really hard to like. But right now, they’re back to being likeable.
They took two of three from the Giants over the weekend, and they came out swinging against the...
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Colby Lewis retired the first 16 batters and finished with a four-hitter Tuesday night, leading the Texas Rangers over the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-1.
Lewis (5-5) struck out seven and walked one as Texas ended Arizona's five-game winning streak.
Lewis did not permit a runner until Aaron Hill hit a one-out single to left field on an 0-2 pitch in the sixth...
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Jason Kubel and Gerardo Parra homered to back Daniel Hudson's seven solid innings in Arizona's 11-3 victory over the AL West-leading Texas Rangers on Thursday night.
The Diamondbacks scored one run while losing the first two games of the series, but led for good in the finale after Kubel's two-run homer in the second off Scott Feldman (0-6)....
Yu Darvish admitted feeling fatigued after his latest subpar performance.
He won't be able to make the same excuse this time around.
Taking the mound for the first time in more than a week, Darvish will look to get back on track and help the Texas Rangers earn their 17th victory in the last 22 meetings with the Houston Astros when the teams open the latest rendition of the...
