Found April 01, 2014 on We Talk Fantasy Sports:
PLAYERS: CC Sabathia
TEAMS: New York Yankees
The New York Yankees start their 2014 season tonight against the Houston Astros...how did they get so lucky!? Last season the Astros finished with a league worst 51-111 record, and it doesn't seem like this team is going to be much better this season.A lineup of Dexter Fowler, Robbie Grossman, Jason Castro, Jose Altuve, Chris Carter, Marc Krauss, Matt Dominguez, Alex Presley, and Jonathan Villar does not scare anyone (mostly because nobody has heard of half these guys) especially CC Sabathia.Only Carter and Fowler have faced Sabathia before in their careers and they are just a combined 1-7 off the left hander.Yes last season we saw Sabathia regress as the 33 year old posted a 4.78 ERA and 13 loses both career worsts. He also only struck out 175 batters, his lowest total since 2006.However this spring training Sabathia proved he was ready to turn things around. Sabathia looked thinned out as he worked hard to lose weight during the offseason and it payed off on the mound. In 5 spring training starts, Sabathia went 3-1 with a 1.29 ERA, giving up just 13 hits and 3 runs in 21 innings pitched. He finished spring training with 16 straight scoreless innings. Over the last 3 years, Sabathia has been a great April pitcher, going 9-3 over 16 starts with a 3.36 ERA.Sabathia will face off with Scott Feldman who will get the opening day start for the Astros. Feldman started 30 games last season, 15 with the Orioles and 15 with the Cubs, going a combined 12-12 with a 3.86 ERA. However with the Orioles, pitching in a tough AL East, Feldman's ERA was 4.27.I would say Feldman will have a much tougher time pitching to a lineup of Jacoby Ellsbury, Derek Jeter, Carlos Beltran, Mark Teixeira, Brian McCann, Alfonso Soriano, Brett Gardner, Kelly Johnson, and Brian Roberts.

CC Sabathia Rocked; Yankees Lose 6-2

We all hoped that this year CC Sabathia would be the pitcher we know and love. That very well may be the case; but it sure wasn’t yesterday. In the first start of the season for the man who may or may not be the Yankees ace, Sabathia was knocked up one side and down the other. Against one of the worst offensive teams in the league, Sabathia gave up four runs in the first...

Yankees: Losing on April Fools Day was appropriate

CC Sabathia on the bump – 2011 Opening Day, Yankee Stadium Opening Day APRIL FOOLS?!? Unfortunately that answer is no, as the 2014 New York Yankees were not playing a joke on fans at all. As the Opening Day, 2-6, loss to the Houston Astros was real, did happen and it counts. Starter CC Sabathia got shelled, as he was tagged for six runs by the time he entered the third inning....

Fantasy Roundup: Sabathia’s Poor Start

Weight loss? More like talent loss. (Photo: Ron Antonelli/NY Daily News) CC Sabathia’s line from last night — 6 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 2 HR — looks pretty bad, which is exactly how he looked during the first two innings. After that he looked much better. The big difference in performance was due to the location of his pitches — he allowed a lot of hard contact early because he was...

Yankees Positives Come Two Innings Too Late In Opening Day Loss To Astros

Look on the bright side. For seven innings, the Yankees looked pretty good. CC Sabathia was effective if not spectacular, Dellin Betances contributed a perfect inning of work and Vidal Nuno rewarded the Yankees decision to choose him for one of the final spots in the bullpen. The offense worked the count and scored two runs on five hits, including two by Mark Teixeira, who looked...

Who is the Future Ace of the Yankees' Staff?

I’m trying to not overanalyze CC Sabathia’s poor opening day start. There were a lot of studs with poor starts on Monday and Tuesday: Cliff Lee, R.A. Dickey, Stephen Strasburg, just to name a few. But one thing feels like it’s becoming increasingly clear: CC Sabathia is no longer an ace. He may still be good; he may still be very good, in fact . . . anything is possible...

Yankees @ Astros (4/1/14)

The time has finally come Yankees Universe. After a long and cold winter, the boys of summer are back! The Yankees were busy during the off season and are ready to show the league their new weapons. The first stop in the quest for 28 and The Captain’s farewell is Houston. A slimmed down CC Sabathia takes the mound against Scott Feldman in hopes of bouncing back from a career worst...

New York Yankees at Houston Astros: Starting Lineup for Season Opener

The last two teams will have their season get underway on Tuesday night as the New York Yankees an Houston Astros ace one another. A remade Yankees lineup will back up ace C.C. Sabathia who was 14-13, with a 4.78 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 175 Ks a year ago. The Astros will counter with free agent signing Scott Feldman who is coming off a 12-12 season that saw him post a  3.86 ERA...

Yankees opening day lineup: 4/1/14

Well, it’s finally here. After a long, cold, brutal winter, Yankees baseball is back – and there are plenty of reasons to be excited. New York finds themselves right where they left off in 2013 – in Houston – to face the lowly Astros. CC Sabathia will be getting his sixth straight opening day start, which ties the franchise record. Scott Feldman will be making his first start...

Yankees Game 1: CC struggles in Opening Day

(Photo by Bob Levey/Getty Images) New York Yankees 2 — Houston Astros 6 The Yankees started their 2014 campaign where the 2013 ended, Houston. CC Sabathia took the mound tonight to open the season and struggled from the beginning. With diminished velocity and a slimmed down figure, Sabathia’s pitches didn’t have the sharpness needed. He gave up a leadoff double to Dexter Fowler...

In reality, Kuroda is Yankees’ top arm in the rotation

OK, so there is a dirty little secret lurking around the Yankees. CC Sabathia pitched the opener, as he has done on every Opening Day since 2009. Ceremonially, that makes him the ace of this staff. Nominally, too. If this were hockey, they might even slap an “A” on his chest to make it all official looking. But he isn’t the ace. That doesn’t mean he’s done, as a million...

The season is finally here and fans are lining up for tickets and making sure their cable bills are paid in full. It’s Yankee time folks and the Bronx is buzzing with what could be a magical season for the Bombers. The New York Yankees open up a three game set against the Houston Astros this Tuesday with CC Sabathia getting the opening day start. The Yankees know they can’t ride...

MLB Game Picks - Wednesday: April 2, 2014

Yesterday did not go nearly as well as Opening Day did for the picks. The tally ended up at .500 with the picks going 4-4 with one postponement. I should have known that CC Sabathia was always terrible as an Opening Day starter. The Diamondbacks did not start the season 0-4 as that team beat the Giants and Matt Cain. I picked the Rays to win again and they did not.To me, today...
