Let’s face facts people, being a Padres fan is not easy work. Year in and year out you watch a team that is often times mediocre at best trying to battle it out and try not to land in the cellar. Every year you are promised a better season because we will find better players to help out the squad. Then the offseason comes around and none of these promises are fulfilled. It’s almost as if it is Christmas morning and your sibling got all the good presents while you are left with stuff from the 99 cent store. We have sat back and watched the Dodgers and the Angels grab whoever they want and our biggest signing so far is Jason Marquis. I just read though that we aren’t the only team not doing anything. The Mets haven’t even signed anybody of yet. Then when the Padres think they are going to sign someone, another team swoops in and says, “Nope he is ours, and we will pay him double what you were going to.” This is the case with Edwin Jackson as you can read below. Also below is news on the Marlins signing Placido Polanco. I included this because apparently they had asked about Jedd Gyorko before signing Polanco. Rumor has it the Marlins would have only done Gyorko for Giancarlo Stanton straight up. Again just rumors, I couldn’t find a definitive source on that one. I think I have wrote enough, so here are your links for today:

We’ll be looking at the top five players in Padre history at each position. The first rule: we will only consider the players’ time with the Padres, so Mike Piazza doesn’t count because he was only here for 1 year. I have set a completely arbitrary minimum of 200 games with the Padres. The other rule: players will be considered for their primary position; so Gene Tenace...
The Padres off-season can be described very easily with one video....
But the Padres and Pints crew got together to give you another video to break down the entire off-season to date. Enjoy!

Like one of his Sunday rounds at the US Open, Phil Mickelson’s aspirations to buy a piece of his hometown San Diego Padres have fallen apart.
The Associated Press reported that Mickelson decided he couldn’t “match the level of commitment” shown by the O’Malley and Seidler families, who became approximately the 500th different group of people to buy the team since the death...
Happy apocalypse day! Or so some people believe. Anyway, the end of the world won’t stop me from loving my Padres. Even if they don’t seem to be improving themselves yet at all. Free agent pitching is coming at a premium of late and we know that. Which means the Padres need to trade for a pitcher, there is no other way around it really. Every day it seems that another free agent...
Monday I posted the Daily Friar and said that I would be posting daily for the most part, at least as best as I could. Then Tuesday came around and I didn’t post one. As it turns out, it is very hard to post anything when there is pretty much nothing to report. Today is a different story altogether as there is some big news regarding the Padres to relay to you all. If you are attached...
