The last time the Padres faced Felix Hernandez they put him in his place. Last night was not the case though. He got the best of us, as he should. He's one of the best pitchers in baseball and he should be able to beat a lowly team like the Padres. We did after all have Jason Marquis pitching for us. Which, without injury wouldn't even be on this team. I was at the game along with Steve Adler and other members of The Friarhood. So at least we had a fun time with that. But the game was a bust. Here are your Padres links for today:Submit articles and follow me on twitter Follow @M_RennickPadres can't solve King Felix - Padres.com"Hernandez's two-run double against Padres starter Jason Marquis snapped a tie in the second inning, and gave the Mariners the lead for good in a 5-1 victory on Saturday night at Petco Park."O'Malley group still negotiating for Padres - Union Tribune“I think the O’Malleys are already looking beyond the books and studying the prod...

New Owner Should Focus on Winning Padres Fans Back

With the sale of the Padres coming soon, it has forced me to think about how the new owner will be received.  Padres fans have had their share of bad owners and bad front office decisions, so I expect as many people to be skeptical as are optimistic when it comes to a new owner.  With that said, I offer you a crazy idea and one that may be unrealistic, but given what Padres fans...

Daily Friar 6.25.12

The Padres lost and won yesterday. The loss came internally as a member of the Padres family passed away yesterday afternoon. Darrel Akerfelds passed away at the age of 50 after battling pancreatic cancer. Such a terrible disease for a great man to have to fight. His death didn't keep the Padres down though, they came out and put on a masterful pitching performance. In doing...

Daily Friar 6.23.12

Maybe the Padres should just play the Mariners every day of the season. 4 times played this season and 4 wins for the Padres. This means one thing right now: The Vedder Cup is ours! Who says the Padres can't win anything? We just won the Vedder Cup! Let's hope they can keep the streak against the Mariners going tonight, because I will be there in attendance in the Friarhood...

Mariners vs. San Diego Padres betting odds and handicapping preview – June 23

MLB Interleague Matchup Insight M’s vs Padres Game 2 The Padres took game one of this series on Friday night 9-5. Richard (5-7) gave up four runs - including two home runs - over the first three innings before he allowed only an unearned run the rest of the way as he pitched into the seventh. A two-run double by Richard...

Come Back Soon

Pitchers Andrew Cashner and Drew Pomeranz may have been sent back to the minors, but I wouldn’t give up on either of them yet. The Padres thought enough of Andrew Cashner to give up Anthony Rizzofor him.CASH IN: Andrew Cashner will return to San Diego as a starter. Cashner took over the set up role in San Diego and when called on to close, he failed to convert on any of the 4 save...

June Gloom

Now that I'm not in school anymore and I am a regular working guy, June doesn't hold the same appeal for me. When I was younger June represented the end of another school year and the beginning of a baseball-filled summer. Now I am an adult and don't get 12 weeks off in the summer but at least I still have baseball, right? Maybe not when your favorite team is the Padres...

Mariners vs. San Diego Padres: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 1

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the first M’s game of the interleague series versus the San Diego Padres. Jon didn't find much "good" left to report on in this game, so he highlighted that Ichiro Suzuki once again had a solid night at the plate. Hopefully the 38-year old Ichiro is proving he still has something left in the tank.

Mariners vs. San Diego Padres: MLB baseball love ‘em & hate ‘em Game 3

NWSB Insider and Seattle Mariners blogger Jonathan Irwin reports on the third and final game of the interleague series versus the San Diego Padres. Even with strong pitching, the Mariners bats can't help them win games. The Mariners are now 31-43, seemingly already digging their proverbial grave. The top five hitters had just 2 hits—not including Kyle Seager's pinch hit...
