On a positive note, the Padres out hit the Pirates yesterday six hits to five. Unfortunately, that’s the only positive I could find offensively, because overall, the team struggled to put the ball in play, striking out 17 times last night. Andrew Cashner had another solid outing for the Friars wasted, allowing three runs, one earned, and walking only two batters over seven innings. The bullpen did their job as well, keeping the Pirates off the board for the final two innings. Tonight, the Padres send Tyson Ross to the mound to face veteran A.J. Burnett at 7:10 PT. Make sure to tune into Fox Sports San Diego to catch what should be a good pitching duel.
