Yes, you are seeing that correctly. That is Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers in all of his mustachioed glory, riding a dolphin in front of a rainbow, engraved in ink on Oakland A’s pitcher Dallas Braden’s left upper arm.

Okay, okay, I have serious doubts this is real. For one, its gleam in light reminds me of those temporary tattoos kids can get at Chuck E. Cheese’s. Second, the Facebook caption for the photo mentions Braden is shooting promos for the upcoming season, and knowing how quirky ads can be for MLB teams, the ink may very well just be for an ad promoting Oakland’s Rollie Fingers bobblehead giveaway. And third, Dallas Braden is not DeShawn Stevenson.

But who knows for certain? Braden, who pitched a perfect game in 2010, missed almost the entire 2011 season after tearing his shoulder. During the rehab process, things can get extremely boring, and sometimes you have to do things you’d never usually do to entertain yourself. Either that, or this is part of a cunning conspiracy by the A’s front office to distract fans from realizing how terrible the team is going to be this season.

Rollie Fingers bobblehead day is April 21, but no, the bobblehead version of Fingers will not be riding a dolphin in front of a rainbow.
