Dan Straily has had trouble staying consistent in 2013, but he put it all together on Tuesday night. Thanks to a dazzling performance from the 24-year old Straily, Oakland shut out the Texas Rangers 1-0 at the Ballpark in Arlington. In the process, they dealt Yu Darvish just his third home loss of his career. Yoenis Cespedes mashed a deep home run off Darvish in the third inning, and it was all Straily and relievers Sean Doolittle and Grant Balfour would need, as the A’s rolled to their fifth consecutive victory. It was a career-best outing for Straily, as everything was working for him against a Rangers lineup that was without second baseman Ian Kinsler. He left after seven stellar innings, having only given up two base hits (to A.J. Pierzynski and Jurickson Profar) and zero walks – arguably the most dominant start of his short Major League career.
