It is nice to take a break from the downer posts that I have had to write recently to look at something positive. Of course, the Atlanta Braves exploding last night for 7 runs and a win against the Marlins to lower their Magic Number to 10 games is nice. They had a solid pitching performance by rookie, Mike Minor, and two three-run homeruns from Brian McCann and Dan Uggla to carry the offense.
Uggla’s home run was a new career high and his 34th on the season. That makes two consecutive seasons in which he has set a career high in home runs. He also is one home run off pace for the NL lead, behind Sir Albert Pujols. (I also would like to point out that McCann tied a career high in homeruns last night as well).
What makes this so impressive is the fact that Uggla started the year so miserably. If you can remember, he started the year off with a .173/.241/.327 line. Actually, that line was after July 4th’s loss to the Colorado Rockies. The next day was when he start...
