After an incredible season, Ruf will reportedly join the Phils tomorrow. Photo by: Jay Floyd
After hitting his 39th home run of the year for Reading earlier in the day, Mike Drago of the Reading Eagle is reporting that Darin Ruf will skip Triple-A Lehigh Valley and join the Phillies tomorrow for their game against the Marlins. The man known as #BabeRuf on Twitter tied or broke a few records within the last few weeks, including the record for most home runs in a month at any level of professional baseball with 20 in August for Reading and the records for most home runs and RBIs in a season for any player at Reading. Ruf earned the Phillies Minor League Player of the Year and Eastern League MVP and Rookie of the Year awards for 2012 by hitting .317/.408/.620 with 38 HRs and 104 RBIs in the regular season and lead the R-Phils into the Eastern League Playoffs as a Wild Card.
About a week ago, the staff here at Phillies Nation speculated if Darin Ruf would be added. The consensus was t...

The Philadelphia Phillies entered play Saturday at 67-71 (Saturday’s game was rained out). They are only 4 games under .500, and 7 games out of the final Wild Card spot with 24 games to go. The Phillies and Rockies will now play a double header. First game will be at 1:05, the second at 6:35.
The Phillies activated catcher Carlos Ruiz from the disabled list on Friday. Ruiz had...
Tyler Cloyd of the Philadelphia Phillies is the newest member in the rotation. How do other recent additions in the NL East match up with him? The Apocalyptic Horsemen Stats are in my recent coverage linked below.
TAL’S HANDY STATS
I am alternating a game-day 2012 ERA For The NL East and a 2012 ERA For The MLB 5. See link section below. In each publication...
The highs and lows of professional baseball are no better evidenced by Darin Ruf‘s day on Sunday. Shortly after grounding into a double play to end the Reading Phillies’ season, the slugger learned that he would be joining the big league Phillies.
Pained by the loss, just moments after the Trenton Thunder eliminated the R-Phils from the Double-A Eastern League playoffs, Ruf...
The Phillies won today. In fact, they won twice. In fact, they swept the series with the Rockies. In fact, they've won 7 of 9. They're just six games behind St. Louis for a playoff spot, and suddenly, instead of four teams between them, it's just two.
Now look, calm yourself now. The Phillies are 69-71. The team they just swept, Colorado, is awful. Like, one game...
The Phils promoted power-hitting prospect, Darin Ruf, who hit a minor league-leading 38 homers (with 20 of them coming in August). That was at Double-A and he’s 26 years old. In scout speak, that’s not good. Scouts speak in short sentences so they don’t miss the Early Bird Specials. Based not on facts but my gut (and Ruf’s), “Babe” Ruf reminds me of Matt Stairs...
Following last night's doubleheader sweep, the Phillies sit just six games behind in the NL Wild Card race. Entering tonight's game, they are tied with the Brewers in the standings, both sporting 69-71 records. If the Phillies can get a jump on the Marlins tonight, they could be as far as 5 games out of the Wild Card standings. With 22 games left in the season, there'...
The Phillies still face significant challenges as they try to make the playoffs this season. This weekend’s series sweep of the Colorado Rockies could be the momentum the Phightin’s need to make a September run. So, Can the Phillies Make the Playoffs?
The Phillies are 69-71, and have only twenty-two games left to play, with six games behind the St. Louis Cardinals in race for...

AT&T sponsored a "Win at Home" contest for Phillies fans last season. The top prize was to be a redesign of a family room and a barbecue with a Phillies player visit. This visit was from Kyle Kendrick. The winner was excited:
Fanning herself and repeatedly telling her friends how amazing it was to have Kendrick in her house...
Kyle Kendrick is the 4-slot hurler for the Philadelphia Phillies, if they reach the NLDS. That stated, have you realized what’s going on yet? Remember, the poll for Masked September is here, if you haven’t voted yet.
