Who’s on third?
The season is still young for this 2012 Seattle Mariners team, but they are already facing some big decisions. Usually it is regarding poor play or injuries decimating the team in one way or another. This time, the problem is much, much different. And it’s one the team is not used to having – depth. That’s a good thing…right?
The Mariners were the best hitting...
Greg Johns of MLB.com and a Seattle Mariners beat writer is reporting that Mariners OF Carlos Peguero suffered a medial meniscus tear in left knee in Tacoma.
He's having surgery Thursday, and will be out 4-6 weeks.
His injury leaves the Rainiers shorthanded in the infield with Mike Wilson and Darren Ford on the DL as well.
The way we're hearing it from most of the...
Figgy puts the squeeze on
On Friday night, the Seattle Mariners took it to the Oakland A’s, in more ways than one. They did pretty much everything right in this game. Pitching was excellent, base running was good, and the bats seemed to be alive for the first time in a regular season game in a very long time.
The video I picked was one of a play that you just don’t see that...
Who’s hot, who’s not?
Week 1 is in the books around Major League Baseball. There are some surprising players and teams already to start off the year, but the Seattle Mariners started the year off in almost shocking fashion.
In fact, such a shocking fashion that their star pitcher didn’t know how to handle the change at hand.
That’s right, Mariners fans, the team is scoring...
M’s Arms Under The Spotlight
After completing one of the most unorthodox 4-game series in team history that resulted in 30 plus hours of travel time between Peoria, Arizona and Tokyo, Japan to start the regular season, the Mariners came back to play five Cactus League games before traveling to Oakland to finish the four-game series with the A’s.
Suffice it to say that the Mariners...
M’s back stateside
This past week was about as weird as any that I have ever witnessed in baseball. Two of three opening nights have now been completed, as well as the second round of Cactus League play.
Thousands of miles of travel, and multiple time zone and customs changes, the Seattle Mariners are finally back on American soil, ready to take the AL West by storm.
For a roundup...
When Felix Hernandez broke into the Majors as a 19-year-old, he threw the ball really hard. Here’s the Pitch F/x plot of his start against the Oakland A’s on April 2nd, 2007, the first for which we have Pitch F/x data available.
The fastball was 95-100, the slider was 89-92, the change-up was 86-89, and even his “slow curve” was 82-87. Felix was the embodiment of a power...

The “Boys of Summer” is a term associated with baseball players, but not always with morality. Nonetheless, many professional baseball players understand that they are examples for young boys and girls, who will undoubtedly look up to them. Many people have a baseball player hero – having grown up in Seattle during the 1990s, my baseball role models are (for better or worse...
