In keeping with our current trend here at Red Sox Life we
want to supply you (Red Sox Nation) with a plethora of spring training videos. The
video below is an interesting contrast of styles as Shane Victorino, Jonny
Gomes and David Ortiz take live batting practice on Friday at JetBlue Park.
One of the funniest moments during the 2:09 video was when David Ortiz made an "attempt" to bunt the baseball. His "attempts" were pretty pathetic when you compare it to Mr. Jonny
Gomes - he bats right before Ortiz. I also noticed that Overbay makes a better
door than a window. That dude stood in front of the camera the majority of
the time it was rolling - we get it you’d love to make the roster Overbay.

Player Profile #81: Shane Victorino | OF | BOS
When the Red Sox signed Shane Victorino this offseason, a buddy of mine sent me a text reading, “Enjoy three years of frustration with that guy.”I’ve never watched Victorino play on a daily basis, but I think I have a good idea what my Phillies friend means. In two of the last three years, Victorino has failed to bat .260 or post an OBP of .330. While he doesn’t strike out...
Your Morning Dump...Where Nava could be in the mix at first
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
That could be an important spot, since starting first baseman Mike
Napoli is not a great defender and the Sox would like someone who could
serve as a late-inning defensive replacement. Also, Napoli'...
Red Sox Injury News: Mike Napoli, David Ortiz
The Boston Red Sox are looking for a bounce-back year in 2013. For that to happen, their stars will need to be happy. The team gave David Ortiz a two-year deal this offseason despite his achilles problems, and they gave Mike Napoli a one-year deal despite his hip concerns. Both players have arrived in camp, and both are looking healthy.
According to Alex Speier of WEEI...
Shane Victorino Says He’s Tired of Hearing About 2012 Red Sox Season (Video)
Shane Victorino wasn’t even wearing a Red Sox uniform during the 2012 season, but he says he’s already tired of hearing about last year in Boston.
To be sure, much of the talk surrounding the Sox is how they’ll be able to bounce back after a disappointing campaign, but with the positive attitude of Victorino, things are bound to get better. The Red Sox’ new right fielder...
Larry Lucchino predicts the end of Red Sox sellout streak
The Boston Red Sox have had sellouts for nearly 10 years. That could be coming to an end according to team president Larry Lucchino.
Lucchino believes the Red Sox sellout streak at Fenway Park will end sometime in April – maybe as early as the teams second game.
The Red Sox have sold out 793 games dating back to May, 15 2003. While the streak is the longest in Major League Baseball...
Dustin Perdroia Says Expectations for Red Sox Are Just as High as They Ever Were (Video)
Suffice to say, 2012 was a bizarre season for Dustin Pedroia and the Red Sox.
After an uncharacteristic losing campaign experienced by the scrappy second baseman, Pedroia went home and, according to him, had a relatively normal offseason. Nonetheless, Pedroia says that, despite what happened last year, the expectations for himself and the team are just as high as they ever were,...
Stephen Drew Showing ‘No Ill Effect’ of Ankle Injury Entering First Season in Boston (Video)
The memories most Red Sox fans share about J.D. Drew are not exactly fond ones. His younger brother hopes to make a different impression this season — his first in Boston.
Stephen Drew will almost certainly be the Sox’ Opening Day shortstop, as manager John Farrell says the 29-year-old is fully recovered from an ankle injury suffered in 2011 that has hampered him during the last...
Don Orsillo, Jerry Remy, Jenny Dell Drop by Warwick Mall, Talk Red Sox With Kids on Final Day of NESN Tour (Photos)
It was a wild ride, but the NESN Spring Training Kickoff Tour has come to a close. Fortunately, that means we’re that much closer to Opening Day.
Don Orsillo, Jerry Remy and Jenny Dell concluded their four-day tour by spending an eventful day in Rhode Island that included a number of stops, plenty of laughs and now countless memories.
The crew kicked off the day in Providence,...
Pedroia needs to be Red Sox captain
The Boston Red Sox came into the American League in 1901 and for the first five years they had only one captain, third baseman Jimmy Collins from 1901-1905.
From 1906 through 1923 they had 15 players accept that role up through Mike Menosky in 1923.
Then the Red Sox were captain-less from 1924 through 1939.
Jimmie Foxx was captain of the Sox from 1940-1942, and nobody else took...
Video: Behind The Scenes at 2013 Red Sox Photo Day
The Boston Red Sox held their annual 2013 photo day on Sunday and while I haven't finished compiling the whole team's pictures just yet, here's a behind the scenes look.

The 2013 Red Sox take the field for the first time
It doesn’t get much better than this as the 2013 Red Sox take the field for the first time at JetBlue Park. This means that
spring training has “officially” begun, and we (Red Sox Nation) can start to analyze players,
schedules and possible organizational pitfalls - like any good Red Sox fan would.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though. The Sox look a bit
fragile (at...

Ben Cherington gives his opinion on Jacoby Ellsbury as a distraction
Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington took all of 38
seconds to discuss Jacoby Ellsbury and the possibility that the injury-prone
center fielder could be a distraction to the team this season. Cherington gave a
canned and somewhat boring answer when asked about his prized leadoff hitter,
but that’s not to say Cherington isn't thinking long term. With Ellsbury under
a one...
John Farrell on John Lackey's status in spring training
One big question mark coming into spring training this
season was the health of John Lackey. Lackey had Tommy John surgery in 2011
during the off-season which landed him on the disabled list the entire 2012
season. Now Lackey is back and ready to kick start his career by providing the
Red Sox with some much needed depth in the starting rotation.
It’s not surprising that...
Daniel Bard creates some buzz after throwing live batting practice
Daniel Bard pitched a live batting practice session on
Saturday morning, and created quite a stir in Ft. Myers, Florida. After
throwing for about 10 minutes Bard wowed the crowd and left a lasting (more importantly
positive) impression in the mind of Red Sox manager John Farrell.
Bard struggled in 2012 as he stepped into a starting role.
He began the season with a 5-6 record and...
