After an off season in which there was much talk about how well the White Sox do staying healthy - exponentially more so than most MLB teams - that good fortune has not been the case early on in 2013, as Dayan Viciedo becomes the fifth member of the squad to hit the disabled list. When he was hitting this past Thursday in Toronto, Viciedo strained his oblique with one of his vicious swings; something that many have said was bound to happen sooner or later considering how hard 'Tank' swings at nearly every pitch he sees. Luckily, the team doesn't think it's going to be an injury that takes him too long to get over, as he was initially diagnosed as day-to-day. If he can indeed come back in just about two weeks (placed on the DL retroactive to Friday, April 19) and can come back hot, then this shouldn't have too big of an impact on the team in the long-run. But if it does linger, as we all know that injuries in baseball sometimes do, then it'll become a big problem area. Because of the injury, the team called up outfielder Blake Tekotte from AAA Charlotte. Manager Robin Ventura now has three options to fill in for Tank: Tekotte, Jordan Danks, and DeWayne Wise. It's pretty clear that he'll just go with the hottest bat in the fill-in role. All three guys play good defense and hit from the left side, which could help the team improve a couple of their early-season dilemmas.

Chicago White Sox Place Dayan Viciedo On Disabled List

MLB News: The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder Dayan Viciedo on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique issue. Projected to hit a solid 2-25 home runs for the season, Viciedo’s oblique strain will definitely bite into those numbers. Fantasy Ramifications: While it will be a group of players trying to fill in for Viciedo while he sits on the disabled list, one thing is for...

White Sox place Dayan Viciedo on DL

The Chicago White Sox have placed outfielder Dayan Viciedo on the disabled list with a strained left oblique, the team has announced. Viciedo suffered his injury earlier this week while swinging and missing at a pitch. He was in such pain, that he fell to one knee before ultimately being removed from the contest. After the game, he told reporters that it hurt when he...

White Sox LHP Danks moving closer to return

White Sox left-hander John Danks thinks he is ready for the next step in his recovery from August surgery. Danks is back in Chicago following a stint at extended spring training and plans to meet with team officials Monday. He thinks he is ready to begin a minor league rehab assignment, but that decision is up to the team. Danks had surgery Aug. 6 to repair a capsule tear and remove...

Chicago White Sox bullpen falters in loss

The Chicago White Sox fell to the Minnesota Twins 5-3 Sunday afternoon. This loss was their third in a row and gives them sole possession of last place in the AL Central. Despite losing his first three starts, Gavin Floyd seemed to finally find his groove against the Twins. He only gave up three hits over six innings with the only earned run coming off a bases loaded walk. Sadly...

Viciedo of White Sox has oblique strain

The Chicago White Sox say outfielder Dayan Viciedo is undergoing treatment for a strained oblique muscle. Viciedo was injured in Thursday's game at Toronto, and the team says he is day to day. He clutched his left side after swinging at a 1-0 pitch from Aaron Loup in the eighth inning and left the game. Viciedo is batting .229 with two homers and five RBIs. The White Sox were...

MLB News: The Chicago White Sox recalled Blake Tekotte on Sunday from Triple-A Charlotte. Helping fill the roster void created when Dayan Viciedo went on the disabled list, he is expected to take spot turns and offer bench depth. Fantasy Ramifications: Tekotte holds no true fantasy baseball value. Not only is he not a starter int he majors, he isn’t even the main reserve. Look...

At home with the Minnesota Twins

Morning All, Dayan Viciedo has been placed on the disabled list. Dayan is listed on the 15 day disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle and  Blake Tekotte from Charlotte has been called up to replace him for now. Jake Peavy (3.54 ERA)  is on the mound today. I am trying to get a visual feed but at the moment not having much luck so its game cast while I work on...

Retired Chicago White Sox legend Frank Thomas has two homes listed for sale, one in Libertyville, Illinois and the other just outside Las Vegas, Nevada. He’s asking for a combined $4.45 million for the two properties. Frank Thomas, “The Big Hurt,” is one of the most decorated players in White Sox history. He won a World Series with the club in 2005, and played his final game...

Top Outfield Prospects Off to Shockingly Slow Starts

Sure, the White Sox' farm system is ranked 28th by Baseball Prospectus. But that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of bright spots throughout Rick Hahn and Buddy Bell's farm system. As we've discussed plenty before, the strongest unit of the team's organization is the outfield, which is set at both the major and minor league levels. In fact, four of the...

Adam Dunn: White Sox Invest $15 Million a year for .098 batting average

Adam Dunn was hitting .098 in 61 at bats for the Chicago White Sox this season. Then he went 1-4 with you guessed it a homer and three strikeouts in a 5-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins. So going 1-4 “raised” his batting average to .108. This is what $15,000,000 a season gets you. This is what Adam Dunn is, White Sox people. Move over Jaime Navarro, I think we have a worst all time...

Twins edge White Sox on error in 10th

Ryan Doumit doubled and scored the go-ahead run in the 10th inning on Alexei Ramirez's throwing error, and the Minnesota Twins beat the Chicago White Sox 2-1 on Saturday. Doumit led off with a double off Hector Santiago (0-1). After Aaron Hicks popped up a bunt attempt, Eduardo Escobar hit a slow grounder that shortstop Ramirez fielded cleanly but bounced his throw to first...

April 21: Twins 5, White Sox 3

The White Sox dropped the second game of this weather-abbreviated three-game set to the Minnesota Twins as the bullpen did not do their job Sunday afternoon. "Good Gavin" Floyd showed up for the first time this season, as he tossed six innings of one-run ball. He let up three walks, only three hits, and six strikeouts as he left the game late with his team leading...

April 20: Twins 2, White Sox 1

After Friday's rain out, the White Sox got their series started at home against the Minnesota Twins Saturday afternoon, but unfortunately it was a familiar sight for 2013 Sox followers. It was yet another pitcher's duel, as both Jake Peavy and Vance Worley brought their A-games. Both pitchers went 7 innings, allowing only one run before handing it over to their...

Series Preview 7: Indians at White Sox

The White Sox limp into this series with Cleveland having lost four straight and nine of their last twelve, including two of three to the Tribe.  The Indians meanwhile snapped a five game losing streak by winning a pair of games against Houston over the weekend.  Both teams have struggled overall this year and sit at the bottom of the AL Central.
