Left field has always been a sexy position for the Red Sox. Some of the greatest players to ever don a Boston cap have played within the iconic shadows of the Green Monster. This resulted in a player of a different breed evolving out of the odd configurations of right field in Fenway Park. While the Boston left fielder has been a perennial threat to lead the league in home-runs, win batting titles, and even triple crowns - the right fielder took on the workman like ethic of the everyday man. If Ted Williams is left field personified for the Sox, than Dwight Evans would be his counterpart in right. Only Yaz, another left fielder, has played more games for the Red Sox, and for the 20 years Dewey patrolled right field, he defined the position for those to follow.
