Found September 06, 2013 on IT IS HIGH, IT IS FAR, IT IS caught:
We all saw Mariano's " blown save" face again last night, didn't we?Certainly, the Yankees missed far too many scoring and anti-scoring opportunities last night. It is wondrously sad how pathetic the 2013 Yankee team looks against the red Sox.  Their facial hair stinks and makes them ugly.  It is their anti-Yankee thing.  But even their re-treads, all drug-free, make the plays that we no longer can.Our best pitcher collapsed; our hitters tried but, when pressured to deliver, failed;  our old guys looked old and slow;  our young guys looked untalented.  Errors were made instead of game-saving plays.Nonetheless, the win was still within our grasp.  The chance to cling to a hope were, again, dashed.  Have we become the Cubs?In the end, as the ninth closed to an 8-8 tie, the 43 year old bulging face, with unbelieving eyes, looking to the heavens for an explanation, or better answer, told the story.   I flashed back to that dinky single that cost us the world series agai...

Yankees game 142 lineup: 9/7/13

(Rich Schultz/Getty Images) Last night’s loss was a tough one. David Huff will be making his first start after being primarily out of the bullpen this year. He took the place of Phil Hughes in the rotation. In his career, he has made 52 starts to a 17-26 record and a 5.41 ERA. Huff has a tall task in front of him. Shawn Kelley (tricep), Boone Logan (bicep) and David Robertson ...

Alex Rodriguez’s Appeal Hearing Scheduled to Begin Sept. 30, Could Be Postponed if Yankees Make Playoffs

The Alex Rodriguez drama has died down as of late, but it will pick right back up toward the end of September. The Yankees third baseman’s appeal of his 211-game suspension is scheduled to begin Sept. 30 — the day after the regular season ends. The Yanks are currently three games behind the Tampa Bay Rays for the second wild card spot in the American League, but if the team is...

Something that could...

Yankees game 140 lineup: 9/5/13

The Yankees welcome in the Red Sox tonight for the first of a huge four-game series. Ivan Nova, the team’s best pitcher of late, gets the start against Jake Peavy. The last time these two teams played, tempers flared when Ryan Dempster hit Alex Rodriguez in the back and manager Joe Girardi was ejected from the game. Entering play tonight, New York is 2.5 games behind the Rays for...

Yankees' Shawn Kelley battling triceps inflammation

Shawn Kelley has been unable to pitch in the last few games for the New York Yankees, and he very may well not be able to pitch tonight.  Kelley has been battling triceps inflammation.  The reliever has not pitched since Sunday and there is no exact timetable on when he will be ready to pitch again. According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, Kelley will not pitch again until sometime...

REPORT: Hearing date for Alex Rodriguez Biogenesis scandal is set

Credit: AP While all of the players implicated in the Biogenesis Performance-Enhancing Drug (PED) scandal other than Alex Rodriguez have accepted their penalties and are currently sitting out the pennant run, the New York Yankees 3B/DH deemed his 211 game suspension excessive and seemingly vowed to fight to the end with his appeal.  Well, the end might be coming.  According to...

Report: Rodriguez hearing on appeal of 211-game suspension set for Sept. 30

Alex Rodriguez has one more reason to hope the Yankees make the playoffs. But the hearing would be rescheduled if the Yankees reach the postseason so Rodriguez could attend the hearing in front of...

Well... here we are

A month ago, I didn't expected us to care about this Boston series.  A month ago, I figured the Yankees would now be bringing up Pat Venditte, the switch-pitcher, or Adonis Garcia, the aged Cuban bowling ball, and waving them in our eyes the way a huckster dangles a fake Rolex on a street corner. A month ago, after we were undressed and run out of Chicago, with taunts written...

Joe Girardi Wants To Talk Mariano Rivera Out Of Retiring

What manager in their right mind would want Mariano Rivera to retire? The answer is none, so that’s why it comes as no surprise that Yankees manager Joe Girardi wants his legendary closer to stay. “I don’t see any reason why he couldn’t do it next year, I don’t. He’s made it pretty clear that he doesn’t want to [return], but I always say, you know, January rolls...

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter continues to struggle with his surgically repaired left ankle as he was removed from Saturday's game against the Red Sox early. Manager Joe Girardi told reporters (Sweeny Murti) that he didn't like the way Jeter was running. Red Sox rally past Rivera, Yanks

Stephen Drew hit a tying single off Mariano Rivera with two outs in the ninth inning, then Shane Victorino lined a go-ahead single in the 10th that sent the Boston Red Sox past the New York Yankees 9-8 in a Thursday night thriller. Down to their last strike against Rivera, the Red Sox rallied in the opener of a four-game series loaded with playoff implications. It felt like a playoff...

Demoralized: To have confidence or morale undermined, to be disheartened; "a crushing defeat demoralized the team."

I'm still angry. I've got the Rage Virus from 28 Days Later. I'm in the foam-at-the-mouth phase of Elisabeth Kubler Ross' five stages of grief.  Last night, if we'd lost 14-2 - just pitched infielders and switched the JumboTron to the NFL - my gums wouldn't still be bleeding.  I WISH I HAD NEVER BEEN BORN! I CURSE THIS UNIVERSE FOR GIVING ME LIFE.1. If I...

CT scan on Jeter's ankle negative

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter has had more tests on his surgically repaired left ankle and it's not certain when he will return to the lineup.
