Dempster
Another game, another day of fans analyzing and bemoaning Ron Washington’s lineup.  Craig Gentry and Mike Napoli were absent from the starting lineup in favor of David Murphy and Geovany Soto.  Murphy’s swinging a hot bat right now, and Soto hasn’t had a ton of AL at bats yet, so I kind of get it.  I think most people are just wondering when Michael Young is going to get a game off.  The answer — probably not any time soon, despite his declining numbers. But, Washington’s lineup worked out just fine tonight.  Murphy and Soto each had a hit and scored.  Murphy even had an RBI.  Young had a hit and a walk too.  So … maybe Wash does know what he’s doing?  I don’t know.  We really don’t have much choice but to trust his gut at the moment.  It was good for six runs on ten hits tonight.  Not quite half-price pizza, but I’ll take that. I wonder how many games that Green Monster has cost the Red Sox.  Or maybe saved for them.  Ian Kinsler probably hates it.  He almost certainly shou

Dempster finally gets first win for Rangers

Ryan Dempster finally got his first win for the team that drafted him. It only took 17 years. "It's awesome," Dempster said with a wide smile strewn across his face after the 6-3 win in Boston. "I was drafted June 1, 1995 by the Texas Rangers, so I didn't think it would be that long before I got a win for them. It's a nice feeling." "It'...

Ryan Dempster Feels 'Awesome' to Get First Win 17 Years After Being Drafted By Rangers

Ryan Dempster has had an interesting two weeks. But when it comes to the Texas Rangers, it's been moe like two decades. It was the final week of July -- prime time for MLB teams on the trade market -- and Dempster was a hot commodity. First, he was reportedly traded to the Braves, only to supposedly enact his 10-5 rights and veto the deal. Then it was swirling rumors of an imminent...

Jon Lester and Ryan Dempster lived very different lives their last time out on the mound. Lester, on one hand, pitched great but was dealt a hard-luck loss. Dempster, on the other, got shelled but then bailed out by his teammates, earning a no-decision while the Rangers ultimately won. NESN Nation's Dan Duquette is rooting for Dempster's struggles to continue in the American...

Will Middlebrooks Gets Day Off, Ryan Kalish Back in Right Field Against Ryan Dempster, Rangers

The Red Sox have now won two in a row and are hoping to catch fire behind their suddenly steady offensive unit. Jon Lester (5-9, 5.36 ERA), who has been much improved over his past two starts, will take the hill for the Sox in hopes of giving the Boston bats a chance to extend their current winning streak. On Tuesday, Lester won't have the fiery bat of rookie Will Middlebrooks...

Recap: Inconsistency continues

(Photo by Jim Rogash/Getty Images) Well, we knew the Sox were not going to sweep the Rangers as their 2-game winning streak came to an end with a 6-3 loss to the Rangers.
