Derek Jeter seems to be keeping a relatively low profile during his last season as a Yankee. And — while his Farewell Tour doesn't seem to be as fun-filled as Mariano Rivera's goodbye gag-fest last season — just a day before his 40th birthday, the Yankees captain showed his lighter side and smashed it out of the park.Jeter, who would never stare down or bail on an inept interviewer, does exactly that on Mark Teixeira's latest "Foul Territory" video.Teixeira, playing his recurring role of the nervous host, repeatedly fumbles over his words and facts while trying to interview a bored-looking Jeter at the team's spring training complex in Tampa, Fla.And Jeter does what he's probably wanted to do many times throughout his 19-year career — he abruptly gets up and walks away. While Teixeira is no Chris Farley, his short satires put a lot of SNL skits to shame.

After 18 Saves, Taking Stock Of Yankees' David Robertson

When David Robertson took the mound last night for his 20th save opportunity, it was his first appearance in a week.  Robertson showed no signs of rust as he completed a five-out save, his 18th, securing a salvage of the Yankees' final game of their latest series in Toronto. While we're not quite at the season's halfway mark, now is as good a time as any to take stock...

Since their "signature moments as Yankees," Beltran and McCann are a combined 6 for 38 (.158) with 1 RBI

It was hailed as a turning point, The Long Awaited Yankee Rapture, when Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran last week led the Evils to a pair of monumental victories. McCann drove in five to beat Mayor Rob Ford's Blue Jays, and Beltran's walk-off HR stunned Old Man Buck's Orioles. Michael Kay psycho-babbled it as their "signature moments as Yankees." And - (full...

Pete Rose: ‘Never thought Jeter had a chance’ to break my record

Pete Rose knew Derek Jeter turns 40 on Thursday, which matches everything I’ve heard about baseball’s exiled Hit King. Even at 73, with the 25th anniversary of his lifetime suspension from Major League Baseball arriving in August, the non-Hall of Famer possesses the sharpest eye, the finest attention to detail, for the game that made him both famous and infamous. So even though...

CC Throws Bullpen; Beltran Throwing Shutdown

(Photo by Mike McGinnis/Getty Images) The Yankees left-handed workhorse, CC Sabathia threw two innings this morning in a simulated game at the teams Tampa complex. Sabathia threw 34 pitches to live batters and came out feeling fine, no issues with his knee. Next step for Sabathia is some rehab games. He is scheduled to pitch Saturday in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League, which will...

New York Yankees: Baby steps from Sabathia

He is one of three New York Yankees starters on the disabled list this season, but CC Sabathia will have his first rehab start on Saturday after being out for the past six weeks. Sabathia has been on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee injury since early May, but yesterday he completed his first simulated game in Tampa, Florida. He tossed two innings, apparently without experiencing...

Rapper Black Rob performed ‘Whoa!’ at Derek Jeter’s birthday party

Derek Jeter is at that level of stardom where he has famous people attending and performing at his birthday party because, you know, he’s Derek Jeter. Jetes turned 40 on Thursday and went out to dinner with a group and then a club to celebrate the big day. Page Six reports that folks like Michael […]

Yankees game 76: Errors abound in loss

New York Yankees 6 — Toronto Blue Jays 7 Errors in the box score and not are key in tonight’s game with Toronto. Through the first three innings, David Phelps was on his game, striking out four and keeping the Blue Jays off the scoreboard. In the fourth inning, Adam Lind and Edwin Encarnacion would start the inning with a pair of singles. Phelps would get one out but Dioner Navarro...

Remember when a Redsock-Yankees series actually involved two power teams?

Yesterday, Mustang and I were chewing the ol' lard, jawboning about those 16-year-old, barefoot Latino boys who Hal Steinbrenner next week will turn into future Wall Street one-percenters. (Hopefully, the Yankees measured the ears, so we can know how big they'll get.) Those kids never saw Tino Martinez play first base for the Yankees. They were six years old when the Curse...

"To see a world in a grain of sand, And a heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour...": William Blake had to be writing about the 2014 Yankees.

Last night, we experienced eternity in an hour, with the commercial breaks. The gods treated us to a perfect microcosm of the '14 Yankees: Fall behind, mount comeback - because the opponent sucks - reach tie, raise glimmer of hope... and blow it. It was like a journey back to 1968 - the sad farewell tour for Mickey Mantle, and the second season of our 10-year drought, when the...

Robertson saves Yankees’ big win over AL East- leading Blue Jays, 5-3

David Robertson hadn’t pitched in a week, so Joe Girardi knew he was going to get his closer into Wednesday night’s game regardless of the score. It was a good thing Robertson was well-rested. Girardi needed a five-out save from Robertson, who answered the call to seal a much-needed 5-3 win over the Blue Jays as the Yankees avoided being swept in the three-game set at Rogers...

Shia LaBeouf stands up for modern man, disrupts horrible return of "Cabaret"

(Off-topic but relevant, considering the Yankees' possible trade for a certain hard-to-spell pitcher, whose name I won't bother to copy and post, because that's the only way to get it correctly:)I am hereby appointing Shia LaBeouf (sp?) as IIHIIFIIc theatre critic, with the hope of sending him to the following Broadway shows:1. Grease2. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor...

Despite Both Team's Struggles, Sox vs Yankees Ticket Prices Still Well Above Average

Almost halfway through the season and so far it has turned out the way the Boston Red Sox had imagined. A season after winning the World Series the Red Sox sit at 36-43, eight games out of first place in a relatively disappointing AL East. But that hasn’t stopped Red Sox tickets from being one of the most expensive in the league this year. The only team with a higher season ticket...

Who was it?

Who was it who said, on or about opening day, that, " this might not be a .500 team?"And why are we just sitting here, ********, but doing nothing?Someone should be leading a mob to where Brian Cashman lives, and demanding his resignation.Like in Egypt.Like in Syria.Like in Kiev.Duque, we will follow your and the IIH banner. When does the " March on Cashman"...
