New York Yankees' shortstop Derek Jeter resumed baseball activities  on Friday at the Yankees' Minor League complex. As reported by Adam Berry at MLB.com, "Jeter was examined Thursday in Charlotte, N.C., by Dr. Robert Anderson, who performed the initial surgery last October on Jeter's fractured left ankle. The Yankees said in a statement Thursday that Jeter's ankle is "healing," an encouraging development for Jeter after being held back by another fracture during Spring Training." Jeter played catch, fielded grounders at shortstop and hit in the batting cage in his first workout since being cleared by the doctors to resume baseball activities. Although Jeter is hesitant to set a timetable for his return, the Yankees expect him to play at some point following the All-Star break. In 2012, Derek Jeter batted .316 with 15 home runs and 58 runs batted in. For his career, Jeter has 3,304 hits, 255 home runs, 1,254 runs batted in, a .313 batting average and a .829 on base plus slugging percentage.
