It's reached the point where the lack of respect shown for Derek Jeter by baseball writers has grown out of control and must be discussed. How can God's Gift to Baseball lose out on the American League MVP award to Twins catcher Joe Mauer?

How? How?!?! How I say?!?!

Derek Jeter was the best offensive player in the American League, as some obviously intelligent fans got together and voted him the Hank Aaron Award winner. Derek Jeter was clearly the best defensive shortstop in the American League, and was rightly rewarded by the baseball writers with a Gold Glove Award.

So he was obviously the best hitter in the league and obviously the best shortstop in the league and he did it all on the best team in baseball, so why is the bum Joe Mauer and his "superior statistics" getting the AL MVP? How is Mark Teixeira getting more MVP votes than Jeter when Teixeira was considered to be a worse hitter than Jeter?!?! This is a worse robbery than that time Amelia Earhardt stole Charles Lindbergh's baby.

The bias needs to stop. How can people be so uneven on a man who is clearly the best overall player in the game? You think Jeter couldn't hit home runs during every at-bat if he wanted? It's far more difficult to bloop singles into shallow right field like that 45-year-old guy on your softball team who's had three knee surgeries and can no longer drive the ball.

But I guess as long as the "gotcha media" wants to focus more on a guy who had better numbers while playing a tougher defensive position and without playing in April, well what can we do? We'll just have to accept that Jeter will never get the respect he deserves. We'll just have to accept that only us true Yankee lovers will know the true value of the Yankee captain.
