John Lackey has been diagnosed with a mid-biceps strain and will likely be placed on the 15-day disabled list. The injury should miss less then a month after leaving his Saturday start with the injury.
According to WEEI’s Rob Bradford, Red Sox CEO Larry Lucchino said that it was his “understanding of the MRI is that he had a mid-biceps strain, no structural damage.”
John Lackey was one start into his return from Tommy John surgery before he re-injured himself. Fortunately, the injury was not to the elbow. Even more fortunate was the fact that while it is a biceps strain, Lackey does not have a tear. However, the 34-year old will have to spend some time on the DL. Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe had the news.

John Lackey’s season — and perhaps career — looked like they were in jeopardy when the right-hander walked off the mound Saturday. Now, the outlook is far more encouraging.
Manager John Farrell said before Monday’s home opener that Lackey, who left Saturday’s start in the fifth inning with a bicep strain, is in the midst of a 48- to 72-hour recovery period. Farrell said...
After 6 games, the Boston Red Sox are standing atop the AL East standings for the first time since September 1st 2011. It may not mean much in the early season, but they are giving fans hope, and are already getting fans attention, for a good reason, something that the 2012 team couldn’t do at all.
The Red Sox, 4-2, have won both because of their offense and their pitching. Boston...
Don’t look now, but the Red Sox are in first place. Actually, go look. We’ll wait.
It’s been a couple of years since the Sox started off the season atop the standings, so 2013 represents a welcome change for the franchise. With some new faces joining the fun, the team has gotten off to a hot start, and they return to Fenway Park riding a wade of optimism after a 13-0 shellacking...

After making his major league debut with Boston last season, Mauro Gomez is heading north.
The first baseman, who was designated for assignment by the Red Sox last week, has been claimed off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Gomez has bounced around the minors since 2005, making stops in Rangers and Braves systems before being signed by the Sox in February of 2012.
He hit .310 with...

Loyal Red Sox fans are returning to Fenway Park to welcome a new team, a new manager and a new era following a stretch of disappointing seasons.
Monday's home opener against the Baltimore Orioles is sold out, continuing a decade-long home sellout streak. The streak is likely to end this month, reflecting fan discontent following 2011's epic collapse and last year's last...
While it may not show up as an official save in the stats column dont tell Andrew Bailey that. Bailey was brought to Boston 2 years ago and was expected to be the teams closer, with the acquisition of Joel Hanrahan this offseason Bailey has switched to the role of set up man. After the home opener on Monday, where Bailey pitched a perfect 8th inning, Bailey said “I don’t really...

Today, Wednesday April 10th, the forecast calls for a temperature of 55 degrees and a 40 percent chance of rain. The Red Sox are anticipating a crowd of around 30,000 fans. Most clubs in Major League Baseball would be doing backflips at attracting such a crowd on cool, rainy weeknight with kids still in school, especially a last place club. In Boston it means the sellout streak will...
The Blue Jays got shelled 13-0 by the Red Sox on Sunday, and even the Blue Jays fans couldn’t catch a break. Check out this streaker who hopped out of the fans, slid into second base with great form, and tried his best to escape by scaling the center field wall but failed miserably.
Here is another angle in which you can almost his soul break.
