The Arizona Diamondbacks avoided arbitration with reliever Craig Breslow on Wednesday, signing him to a one-year, $1.795 million contract. Breslow was seeking $2.1 million from Arizona, which had offered the veteran lefthander $1.5 million. The 31-year-old Breslow made 67 appearances for Oakland last season, sporting an 0-2 record with a 3.79 ERA in 59 1/3 innings. Acquired from the Athletics in a trade in December, Breslow made 202 appearances in his last three seasons with Oakland.
