Over the summer and entering the offseason, it appeared the
Arizona Diamondbacks would be trading outfielder Justin Upton. However, rumors
cooled as teams were reportedly unable or unwilling to reach Arizona’s asking
price. Now, following the Diamondbacks’ signing of outfielder Cody Ross, the
team is “very much open” to talking about trading Upton with interested clubs,
according to Buster Olney of ESPN.
Arizona very much open again to talking about trading Justin Upton w/other teams, and not surprisingly, their specific demands have changed.

Following the signing of Ross, the Diamondbacks were
expected to move one of their extra outfielders; with the most likely
candidates were Upton and Jason Kubel. At this point, Olney has spoken with officials who are convinced the team will trade Upton, not Kubel, this winter.
Olney adds that the Diamondbacks have viewed the Seattle Mariners as a possible landing spot for Upton. The Texas Rangers and Atlanta Braves
have also been tied to the slugger this offseason.
