The Daily Stache:
Former Mets legend R.A. Dickey is on my fantasy team in which I put down 40 bucks to try to once again make a run at a title after finishing fourth last year and second two years ago.
(In the interest of trashing my Co-Owner Michael Charles Ganci, he missed the playoffs last year and I beat him in the playoffs two years ago)
He is pitching to a 5.36 ERA so far with the Blue Jays and is now going out of his way to make sure everyone knows it’s not just him stinking up the Skydome.
R.A. Dickey said the Blue Jays are dysfunctional on the field.

Well done R.A., that is going to go over really well in the clubhouse. The same clubhouse in which CBSSports.com recently said was very much on shaky ground.
Of course the only guy in the Major Leagues that was apart of the package going to the Mets, John Buck is having the early season to remember.
Buck is hitting .263 with a team leading 10 homers and a National League leading 29 RBI and even texts Matt Harvey late a night about how awesome he is.
Things are looking good for the Mets in this deal and that is without the core players in the deal doing anything for them so far above Class A.
Well the Mets don’t have too many wins this season but they got more than the Blue Jays on the field and chalk up one for off the field as well.

Top Mets pitching prospect Zack Wheeler followed up a solid start last week with an even better one today as the Las Vegas 51s beat the Sacramento River Cats 6-2.
Wheeler tossed six scoreless innings and allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out four. What stood out was that he tossed 90 pitches (55 strikes, 36 balls) and left the game looking he had plenty left in...
As it often has been with the Mets over the years, what was once good quickly and dramatically turned sour as 5-2 fell to 10-15.
The Mets rode Matt Harvey’s blistering start – they won five of his six starts – but have to be alarmed he was responsible for half their victories. Once again, the Mets fell victim to the same old vices that have crippled them for years.
The starter is getting tired. The call goes out to the bullpen. Within ten minutes, the crowd sees the reliever making his way to the mound on foot.
But in the old days, relievers rode to the mound in the Bullpen Cart. Who remembers that? The cart’s top was a big Mets Cap. The sides were baseball bats, the rear were the seams of a baseball and the headlights were strategically...
As of now, Terry Collins’ job is safe and deservedly so. Based on getting the most out of what he has been given and basic fairness, there’s nothing justifying Collins’ job being in question.
COLLINS: What’s he thinking? (AP)
However, fairness is irrelevant in sports. A manager’s job security always becomes an issue when he has lame duck contractual status and his team...
Though nobody in the Mets front office wanted to say it directly, the fans and the media were well aware of what 2013 was for the Mets: a continuation of the “rebuilding” process. There were great building blocks in place in Matt Harvey, Jonathon Niese, Josh Edgin, Bobby Parnell, Ike Davis, Ruben Tejada, and David Wright. There were top-shelf prospects on the cusp of making...
New York Mets top pitching prospect Zack Wheeler turned in a nice performance Sunday afternoon against the Sacremento River Cats. The 23-year-old righty entered Sunday’s affair sporting a 1-1 record with a 4.80 ERA for the Las Vegas 51′s of the Pacific Coast League. Most alarming to some followers was the fact that heading into today’s contest Wheeler had walked 16 batters...

Collin Cowgill was demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas to clear the roster spot for the promotion of fellow outfielder Andrew Brown. Cowgill, 26, hit .157 (8-for-51) with two homers...
Jordany Valdespin will not start against LHP Chris Sale on Tuesday according to Terry Collins and as reported by Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.
Valdespin is in the lineup today against Tim Hudson and batting eighth. Well at least he’s in the lineup.
Michael Baron of MetsBlog points out that against left-handed pitching, Valdespin is hitting just .182 with a .545 OPS.
But what he...
Kirk Nieuwenhuis' foot looks better. The former Mets, current Las Vegas 51s outfielder robbed Steven Vogt of a home run in the 51s' 3-0 loss to the RiverCats last night.

First off, I want to make sure that I cover the beginning of the game and give proper due to John Buck, Lucas Duda, and Marlon Byrd. All three hit home runs before the ninth inning. Buck keeps his hot start to the season alive with a two run home run. Lucas Duda's home run came in the next inning and proved that he can stop being so damn streaky and hit a home run every once...
Toronto Blue Jays right-handed starting pitcher R.A. Dickey has been cleared to make his regularly scheduled start on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners. He underwent an MRI on his neck yesterday, which resulted in a diagnosis of mild inflammation in his neck, according to The Associated Press.
Dickey exited his April 18 start due to tightness in his neck and back. He hasn...
The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled right handed pitcher Brad Lincoln from their Triple-A Buffalo minor league affiliate to serve as a middle reliever. In other moves, the Blue Jays were forced to place starter Josh Johnson on the 15-day disabled list with a triceps injury. In an unrelated move, Justin Germano has been designated for assignment and will have to clear waivers to have...
Who do you like more: Santa Claus or John Farrell? Well the results are in, and apparently more Massachusetts voters would choose the Sox skipper over jolly old St. Nick.
Every so often, Public Policy Polling, the company that does the approval rating polls for major political races, releases results for polls that are a bit more whimsical than politics. On Friday, Public Policy...
