For much of the universe, a trade involving two marginal minor leaguers -- Mariners 27-year-old infield prospect Michael Morse and Nationals journeyman outfielder Ryan Langerhans -- registered hardly a blip on the news wire. A bad team and a mediocre team swapping bit pieces a few weeks before the All-Star break? Who cares? Well, at least a few Mariners fans cared about this exact trade, and they managed to care about it a few days before it happened. Dave Cameron from USS Mariner, for example, explicitly requested a trade for the 29-year old Langerhans last Monday, a 546-word argument ending with a three-word coda: "Ryan Langerhans please." (Cameron had actually recommended the Mariners pick up Langerhans as a free agent back in November, calling him "the kind of guy you can get for practically nothing;" the team somehow failed to follow his advice.)
