What would it take to get him? To me, trading for a starter like Zach Duke seems more realistic than any deal for one of the big pitchers on the market. Duke, who is 8-9 with a 3.23 ERA this season, is a 26-year-old lefty. He has thrown 133 innings and has pitched at least six innings in his last 13 starts (before Friday) -- nine of them he went at least seven innings. He's making $2.2 million this season, making him affordable. And Duke is arbitration-eligible the next two seasons, so he isn't a free agent until 2012. The Pirates also seem willing to make deals. But what would it take to get Duke? Could the Rangers offer a package that doesn't include Justin Smoak, Derek Holland, Neftali Feliz or Martin Perez? Probably. It might cost a group of prospects rated just below that group (and a major leaguer or two). If so, who would you give up? Does Duke (who was born in Clifton, Texas, BTW) interest you? He does me.
