Found March 24, 2013 on Fox Sports West:
PHOENIX Adrian Gonzalez is being held out of the Dodgers lineup on Sunday after he was hit by a pitch in his right forearm the previous night. The move was described as precautionary. Its not enough to be on the medical report, Manager Don Mattingly said. Juan Uribe, who is nursing a tight hamstring, will be out of action for the second consecutive day. Carl Crawford, who played three innings in left field on Saturday night, is scheduled to play defense for five innings. In other news, non-roster reliever Mark Lowe was granted his release. Lowe posted a 4.15 earned-run average in nine spring appearances.

Ramirez’ thumb injury creates question marks for Dodgers infield

The Dodgers’ Opening Day plans took a big hit this week after shortstop Hanley Ramirez underwent surgery Friday to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb.   Ramirez suffered the injury earlier in the week playing for the Dominican Republic against Puerto Rico in the championship game of the World Baseball Classic.   The 29-year old is expected to miss eight weeks.   And while...

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley pitched 4 2-3 innings in a minor league game Saturday and is confident he will be ready when the season begins. Billingsley bruised the index finger on his right hand during a bunting drill on March 15. He was scratched from a start earlier in the week. Dodgers have some tough decisions to make about opening day roster

The Dodgers have 38 players remaining in Major League camp after releasing reliever Mark Lowe on Sunday. The number has to be down to 25 by the time the Dodgers open the season on April 1 at Dodger Stadium against the Giants. There are clearly locks for the roster (Kemp, Kershaw, et al), and some who weren't locks just as recently as a couple weeks ago (Uribe). There are...

Dodgers 10, White Sox 4

Hyun-Jin Ryu allowed one hit over seven innings and Andre Ethier hit a three run-double, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 10-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night. Ryu struggled with his command in the first. He walked Alejandro De Aza, who advanced to third on infield outs before scoring on wild pitch. In the second, the South Korean left-hander allowed a double...

Athletics 7, Dodgers 4

Carl Crawford hit his first home run for Los Angeles and played left field for the second time since elbow surgery in the Dodgers' 7-4 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Sunday. Crawford, recovering from ligament-replacement surgery on Aug. 23, didn't make his spring training debut until March 17 and played left field for the first time on Saturday. He hit a solo home run...

Phil Jackson Visits the Dodgers

It was all smiles when former NBA coaching great Phil Jackson visited the Los Angeles Dodgers and team owner Magic Johnson on Saturday at Camelback Ranch. And, then, the "Zen Master" paid what looks like an awkward visit to Hall of Famer, and Dodgers icon, Tommy Lasorda. I'm willing to bet Lasorda and the boys are hoping that some of Jackson's...

MLB Divisional Previews: NL West

The NL West is one of the most exciting divisions in baseball because of…well, two teams. Sure, the Rockies are finally healthy and Arizona has made some moves, but it really comes down to the Giants and the Dodgers. Then again, the Padres could come out of nowhere and win the whole thing after a giant earthquake swallows LA and San Francisco, Yellowstone erupts, covering Denver...
