Found August 29, 2012 on My Sports Rumors:

It’s widely known that the Los Angeles Dodgers are searching for more starting pitching. According to Jon Heyman there’s one pitcher that the team isn’t that high on and that’s Roy Oswalt. A couple months ago Oswalt was someone that was highly sought after unfortunately that changed once he started to pitch.

@JonHeymanCBS: #dodgers person didnt seem that enthused about oswalt. appears they liked him more before he started pitching (5.94 era)

The Texas Rangers are actively shopping Roy Oswalt which tells you how bad of a season he’s having. The Rangers are a team that’s also struggling in the rotation but they’re willing to dump the vet.

Over 50 innings pitched, Oswalt has that 5.94 ERA while striking out 47 and walking ten. His problem has been the longball, he’s given up eight homers already this season and opponents are batting a whopping .325 against him.

For how bad the Dodgers need pitching I’m fairly certain this is one guy that they won’t be going after. Would any team, especially a NL team, be willing to take a chance on him?

Rangers' Oswalt knew weeks ago he cleared waivers

Roy Oswalt says he has known for several weeks that he cleared waivers, a move that would allow the Texas Rangers to trade the veteran right-hander to any team. Oswalt said Tuesday he didn't know much about the process and has been given no indication if he would be dealt to another team. Since joining Texas on June 23, Oswalt is 4-2 with a 5.94 ERA in 11 games. He is no longer...

Kemp leaves game after collision with wall

Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp has left Tuesday's game after crashing into the wall in the bottom of the first inning. Kemp ran into the wall trying to track down a triple by Josh Rutledge of the Colorado Rockies. He turned into the padding while running full speed and fell backward onto the warning track. He stayed down for several minutes as team trainers checked...

Kasten fears Billingsley done for season

The Dodgers are concerned that the injured Chad Billingsley might not return this season, apparently explaining why the team remains in search of starting pitching even after acquiring Josh Beckett last week. Stan Kasten, the Dodgers' president and chief executive officer, said Thursday night that he fears Billingsley is done for the year. Kasten spoke at a fan discussion...

Coors Field wall 2, Kemp 0 -- and Dodgers worried

The Los Angeles Dodgers got a huge scare when center fielder Matt Kemp left Tuesday's game against the Rockies in the first inning after crashing into the center-field wall for the second consecutive game. Kemp ran into the wall at full speed while trying to catch a drive by Josh Rutledge, a ball that bounced away for a triple. Kemp was down on the field for several minutes...

Texas bullpen is among baseball's best at protecting leads

The Texas Rangers bullpen -- particularly the back end of the relief corps -- takes a backseat to no one. That was plainly evident Monday in the 6-5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays in which Alexi Ogando, Mike Adams and Joe Nathan retired all nine batters they faced over the final three innings. Each of them struck out two in a scoreless inning. The Rangers rank sixth in the AL in...

Sideline Reporter Emily Jones Sprays Nelson Cruz With Water After Outfielder Covers Up Camera (Video)

Emily Jones was all set to give her pregame report on the state of the Texas Rangers, but outfielder Nelson Cruz had other plans. As Jones launched into her live report for FOX Sports Southwest, speaking to a camera placed next to the Rangers dugout, Cruz covered up the camera lens and prevented viewers from seeing anything. Jones then responded by breaking out a spray bottle, which...

Nick Punto Always Envisioned Winning World Series in Boston, Says 'That's the Part That Stinks' About Trade

Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto were all smiles as they boarded a flight to Los Angeles in the wake of the Red Sox' blockbuster trade with the Dodgers. But at least a little part of Punto was disappointed. Punto is seen as a throw-in in the megadeal that alleviated the Sox of over $250 million in bad contracts, but the veteran infielder admits he had big things on...

Rays try to avoid sweep against Rangers

Matt Harrison is trying to gain a share of AL wins lead. Taking the mound at home may improve his chances. He goes for win No. 16 on Wednesday for the AL West-leading Texas Rangers, who aim to sweep their three-game series from the Tampa Bay Rays. Harrison (15-7, 3.04 ERA) has emerged as the Rangers' most reliable starter in just his second full season in the majors. If he...

Josh Beckett rips Boston sports media, "It's only a matter of time until they get you"

After Josh Beckett departed Boston for his new home in Los Angeles as part of one of the bigger trades in MLB history, he decided to state some not so nice words about the Boston sports media before he left. In an interview with WEEI's Rob Bradford, Josh spoke very candidly about the Boston media machine and their ability to push players out:   "Once they want...

Darvish deals, Rangers blank Rays

Yu Darvish and James Shields are both great pitchers.  So I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised by the pitchers’ duel that happened in Arlington tonight. Both pitchers were bringing it and seemed to have the game completely in control. Darvish was just a smidge better though.  Over seven innings, he struck out 10 and scattered six hits and two walks.  A few times, I thought...
