PLAYERS: Ted Lilly
TEAMS: Los Angeles Dodgers
Dodgers' left handed pitcher Ted Lilly was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a rib-cage muscle strain.  The move was made to make room for Clayton Kershaw, who was on the bereavement list since Monday after the death of his father. As reported by Ken Gurnick of MLB.com, "Lilly, who started the season on the disabled list after shoulder surgery, made his second start Monday night and lasted only three innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits. Later he told the club his neck and rib cage were bothering him." The 37 year old Lilly has 130 career wins, but is 0-1 with a 5.63 earned run average in two starts in 2013.  In eight innings, he's allowed 14 hits, four walks and two home runs.

Sandy Koufax's scouting report surfaces

Many argue Sandy Koufax as one of the greatest pitchers of all-time. He dominated the National League as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers. He baffled batters, especially the final five seasons of his career where his WHIP was below 1.00 a game. That’s insane for a starter, in any era. Oh, his final two seasons, he pitched in 335.2 and 320 innings. He didn’t show any signs of...

Jarret Martin dominates, but loses in best outing of Dodgers' career

Jarret Martin had one of the best performances of his Dodger career on Wednesday night, but it wasn't enough to propel the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to victory. Martin's line was rather impressive: 6 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K. The Stockton Ports scored their only two runs of the night in the first inning, aided by a Darnell Sweeney error -- his 13th in 24 games. Addison...

Dodgers activate Kershaw, send Ted Lilly to DL

The Los Angeles Dodgers activated starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the bereavement list in time for the left hander to make his Friday start. The Dodgers also placed Ted Lilly on the disabled list with a rib cage injury. Kershaw has a 1.73 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 47/12 K/BB ratio in 41 2/3 innings over his first six starts this season. He left the team on Monday but was never in...

Has Josh Beckett Lost It?

When the Los Angeles Dodgers made the big August trade with the Boston Red Sox last season to acquire Josh Beckett, Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, and Nick Punto, there was major concern over one player. The concern was always over Crawford not Beckett. Crawford, although currently nursing a hamstring, has produced quite nicely on the field. In the 25 games Crawford has been in...

Dodgers' Ramirez lands on DL

The Los Angeles Dodgers put shortstop Hanley Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left hamstring. The Dodgers made the move Saturday, a day after he hurt himself running the bases. Infielder Dee Gordon was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque. Ramirez was injured while trying to go from first base to third in the sixth inning of Friday night's 2-1 loss at...

Dodgers’ Adrian Gonzalez out with neck injury

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez missed last night’s contest against the San Francisco Giants due to a neck injury. He told reporters – including Steve Dilbeck of The Los Angeles Times – that he hopes to be back in the lineup today. Gonzalez sustained his neck injury Wednesday when he collided with an umpire while chasing a foul ball. The soreness...

Video: Dodgers' prospect Angelo Songco's RBI double against Stockton

This is a quick video I was able to shoot/edit of Angelo Songco ripping a double to the right-center field gap on Thursday against Stockton Ports' pitcher Jeremy Brown. Songco is coming off a terrible season that was shortened by injury. He's not hitting particularly well so far this season (.267/.306/.396), but he does have a decent bat. He was fantastic in the California...

Dodgers' Ramirez on DL with strained hamstring

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly doesn't expect injured shortstop Hanley Ramirez back from the disabled list any time soon. Ramirez thinks his skipper is wrong and isn't certain he needed to go out. The Dodgers put Hanley Ramirez on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left hamstring. The team made the move Saturday, a day after he hurt...

Yasiel Puig Is Stuck In The Minors

What will the Dodgers do with Yasiel Puig? So all baseball fans were introduced to Yasiel Puig in Spring Training this year when he batted a modest .517!  In 58 ab’s he scored 16 runs, had 30 hits, 3hr, 11rbi and 4sb.  He slugged .828 with a total ops of 1.328!  That led Spring for the NL with anyone who had at least 50 pa’s. However you may remember the Dodgers making a huge...

Dodgers’ Gordon begins fielding balls at second

Dee Gordon has begun taking ground balls at second base suggesting his future with the Dodgers will not be at shortstop. The Dodgers sent the 25-year-old Gordon to Triple-A Albuquerque to start the season. Gordon has compiled a .302/.368/.417 line during his minor league stay and has stolen 12 bases. The Dodges have Hanley Ramirez and Mark Ellis at shortstop and second base. Gordon...

David Ortiz Tweets Message to Former Teammate Hanley Ramirez, Who Just Returned From DL Stint (Photo)

Hanley Ramirez can only hope to replicate the production that David Ortiz has provided since returning from a stint on the disabled list. The Dodgers shortstop at least has Ortiz’s blessing, though. Ortiz sent out a tweet on Thursday afternoon wishing his “boy” the best of luck. Ramirez already returned with a bang — going deep in his first game on Tuesday and going 3-for...

Hadouken!

I think this is a most appropriate post considering it's Free Comic Book Day. No, my modest Silver Age comic collection is not on display today. Instead, I'll feature this sweeeeeet 1/1 custom sketch card of one of the newest Dodgers. It's actually the second custom sketch card I've snagged off of eBay for a stellar and cheap price. This is the "blue 1/1,"...

The Los Angeles Dodgers and "Too Much Pitching"

Freak accidents happen. Just ask the Los Angeles Dodgers. (Credit) Sometimes a cliche is just that - a simple saying that has become so overused that it no longer has any meaning outside of being a one-liner. No cliche in baseball gets more use than “you can never have too much pitching.” It seems like the phrase is used during every game, whether the man on the mound is performing...

The Los Angeles Dodgers have activated left handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw from the bereavement list. To make room for him, the Dodgers consequently placed left handed pitcher Ted Lilly on the 15-day disabled liste with a right rib cage injury.
