Corey Seager, the Dodgers first round pick in the 2012 MLB Draft, drafted number 18 overall. Seager, was born April 27, 1994 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He's a left-handed hitter from Northwest Cabarrus High School in North Carolina. He stands six foot three and weighs two hundred pounds. This kid has incredible strength, even at eighteen years old. Often compared to his older brother Kyle Seager of the Seattle Mariners, but truth be told, the younger Corey is a much different baseball player, and athlete as a whole. Besides the fact that they are both left-handed hitters, there isn't much comparison between the two. The biggest difference between the two is that the he is leaps and bounds better defensively. He is known through high school as a short stop phenom, but baseball scouts see him eventually as a third baseman in the big leagues. Corey has exceptional reaction time, acting on instinct at all times when fielding ground balls. The game comes naturally to hi...

With the Mariners Ichiro, the unexpected has always been expected

What to expect? I really like what Eric Wedge has been doing with this young Mariners team this season. The guy doesn’t seem afraid to shake things up. I didn’t mind him giving Chone Figgins a chance at lead off. At the time it made sense. It also made sense to bench him giving Dustin Ackley a shot up front. If Ichiro had actually been able to adjust to being a three hole...

LOS ANGELES The Dodgers Tuesday announced their selections from the first two days of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. Los Angeles made 14 picks today after selecting Northwest Cabarrus High School (Concord, NC) shortstop Corey Seager with their first-round pick (18th overall) and Puerto Rico Baseball Academy shortstop Jesmuel Valentin with the 51st overall pick in the supplemental...

2012 MLB Draft: Day 1 & Day 2 – Notes – White, Seager, Rodriguez, Garcia, Griggs

ESPN‘s Kiley McDaniel says Dodgers first rounder Corey Seager has All-Star upside. McDaniel: The Dodgers pop Corey Seager here, the brother of Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager, but Corey is bigger and more physical than his brother. Corey could be a tough sign here with a strong commitment to South Carolina, but you have to

Dodgers becoming more aggressive on base path

The Dodgers are suffering through their worst stretch of the season with six losses in their last seven games after Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies, but they have been improving in one area: stealing bases. The Dodgers in 2011 were fourth in the National League with 126 stolen bases and stole those bases at a 75.9 percent clip, fifth in the league. But this year, the club began...

Seattle Mariners offense starts clicking

As we go deeper into the MLB season, you get a feel for teams. The Seattle Mariners slumped into last place in the A.L. West, mainly because of a lack of offense. But as this week has shown, teams can still surprise. After putting a five game losing streak behind them, the Mariners won three out of their next five. More surprising, in each win the Mariners scored double digit runs...

Hernandez scratched from Wednesday's game vs. Halos

Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez has been scratched from Wednesday night's scheduled start because of lower-back pain, Manager Eric Wedge announced after Monday night's game, but that is not necessarily a good thing for the Angels. The Angels have actually fared well against the 2010 American League Cy Young Award winner, who has a 6-10 career record and 3.80 earned...

Los Angeles Dodgers Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda suffered a mild heart attack Monday while in New York for the Major League Baseball 2012 Draft. Lasorda, 84, was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center for treatment, where doctors inserted a stent to correct a blocked artery in his heart. Juan Rivera activated, Javy Guerra disabled, Scott Van Slyke optioned … OMG SHAWN TOLLESON TIME

Juan Rivera was activated off the disabled list and Scott Van Slyke was optioned. In vacuum, it’s a positive move, because Rivera is likely a better player than Van Slyke, but I’d much rather see his playing time go to a combination of Bobby Abreu/Tony Gywnn Jr./Alex Castellanos instead. —– In what can only be

The Phils begin their four-game series with the Dodgers with a lose as Papelbon is unable to keep the Dodgers from scoring in the top of the ninth, as the Phils lose, 4-3.

The Phils lose their third straight game, as Papelbon is unable to secure the ninth inning, as the Phils drop one to the Dodgers, 4-3. The Dodgers took the lead in the first as, with two men on, and with one man out, Juan Rivera hits an RBI single, scoring Elian Herrera, who had earlier walked, then stole second base, giving the Dodgers a 1-0 lead, while sending Andre Ethier, who...

Dodgers 4, Phillies 3

Elian Herrera hit a tiebreaking RBI single off Jonathan Papelbon in the ninth inning to lift the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 on Monday night. Placido Polanco hit a tying, two-run homer to help the Phillies rally from a 3-0 deficit against Clayton Kershaw, but it wasn't enough. Dee Gordon ripped a triple to right-center to start the ninth against Papelbon...
