Detroit Tigers General Manager Dave Dombrowski’s poor decisions has led to the departure of pitching coach Rick Knapp.  Lets take a step back in time and look what brought us to this point.  At the beginning of the year, Dombrowski wanted Phil Coke to be a starter.  Coke had a good year last year but doesn’t have enough stuff to be a starting pitcher and it showed. At this point, he has a 1-8 record, 4.96 ERA in 78 innings this year.  Brad Penny was signed to a 1 year contract the beginning of the year and  has a 5-6 record, 4.43 ERA in 103 innings.  Both of these decisions are part of the Tigers self destruction we are now witnessing and will ultimately cause them to fall out of the pennant race. Adding Coke and Penny to the rotation wasn’t the only “dumb” choice made by the Tiger’s GM.
