Found June 01, 2013 on Fox Sports North:
MINNEAPOLIS Ryan Doumit has been in a groove lately. The Twins catcher had a stretch of four straight multi-RBI games earlier this week as he helped Minnesota win four straight against Milwaukee. After going 0-for-4 on Friday against the Mariners, Doumit found his groove again in dramatic fashion. With two runners on and one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Doumit delivered a walk-off triple (yes, triple) on a drive to the gap in right-center field. The seventh triple of Doumit's career scored Eduardo Escobar from second and Joe Mauer from first for the winning run as the Twins topped Seattle 5-4."Guys kept playing," said Twins manager Ron Gardenhire. "A big hit by Doum there. Some big hits leading up to that, and a big one in the gap, and run Joe, run, as we were saying in the dugout. A good win for us."Before Doumit stepped to the plate in the ninth, the Twins exercised patience against Mariners closer Tom Wilhelmsen. Pedro Florimon drew a leadoff wal...

Twins Sunday: Herrmann hits first MLB homer

MINNEAPOLIS Chris Herrmann couldn't stop smiling as he rounded the bases Sunday in the fourth inning. And who could blame him. Herrmann hit his first career major league home run in Sunday's 10-0 over the Seattle Mariners. Herrmann drove a 1-2 pitch from Jeremy Bonderman to left field for an estimated 373-foot homer. The emotion on Herrmann's face following the home...

Carl Pavano will not pitch this season

Who would have thought a simple slip and fall while shoveling snow would end someone's season?  Carl Pavano's season ended before it ever began - before he even had a team to play for.  This past winter he suffered a ruptured spleen and now says he will not pitch at all this year. According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, Pavano is still battling through recovery from...

Twins place OF Hicks on 15-day DL, recall OF Arcia

The Minnesota Twins have placed outfielder Aaron Hicks on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain. Hicks left the nightcap of Sunday's day-night doubleheader against the Nationals in Washington. To replace Hicks on the roster, the Twins will recall outfielder Oswaldo Arcia from Triple-A Rochester before Tuesday's game against Philadelphia. Arcia has appeared...

Twins look to match season-best winning streak

While the Minnesota Twins appear to be playing some of their best baseball, they're likely in for a tough test against a right-hander who hasn't lost in more than a month. The surging Twins look to match their season-best winning streak Friday night when they face the Seattle Mariners' red-hot starter Hisashi Iwakuma. Minnesota (23-28) took advantage of struggling Milwaukee...

Well, that’s a weird thing to say

Joe Mauer is batting second in today’s game against the Mariners, which most people think is the right move. You want your best on base hitters to get on early and often. Line up efficiency researchers have even said that the best hitters should bat 2nd, because it allows for them to be on base with good hitters behind them and chances to hit with runners on base immediately behind...

Twins 5, Mariners 4

Ryan Doumit's two-run triple off Tom Wilhelmsen with one out in the ninth inning sent the Minnesota Twins to a 5-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday afternoon. This was the third blown save of the season for Wilhelmsen (0-1), all in his last four tries. The right-hander pitched a perfect ninth for the save Friday night, but he walked the first three batters he faced...

Twins handcuffed by Seattle's "other ace"

MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Twins thought they lucked out by not having to face Mariners ace Felix Hernandez in this weekend's three-game series. It turns out Hernandez may have been a welcomed sight at Target Field. Instead, the Twins were shut down by Seattle's Hisashi Iwakuma. The 32-year-old right-hander blanked Minnesota for 7 23 innings as the Mariners won Friday&...

Correia looks to round back into form in June

It's been nearly a month since the Seattle Mariners won three in a row. They could change Saturday at Target Field against the Minnesota Twins if Aaron Harang delivers like he did earlier this week. After dropping a season-high eight straight, Seattle (24-31) won four of six to close out May. Friday's 3-0 series-opening victory was the Mariners' ninth win in 10 games...

Twins 10, Mariners 0

The Twins have rediscovered the grit they generally lacked while losing a combined 195 games in 2011 and 2012. Scott Diamond pitched six shutout innings and Josh Willingham hit one of Minnesota's four home runs as the Twins beat the Seattle Mariners 10-0 Sunday, their seventh victory in nine games since dropping 10 straight in mid-May. In the last of those losses, the Twins...

Twins activate Trevor Plouffe then place him back on DL

Trevor Plouffe had not even been off the 7-day disabled list long enough to play in a game before he was placed back on the 15-day disabled list.  The 26-year old outfielder was recovering from a concussion, but now he is battling a calf strain. Tyler Mason of Fox Sports North confirmed the strange move yesterday.  It was only strange in the fact that Plouffe had not been available...

Who’s The No. 1 Prospect?: June Edition

Entering May, Minnesota Twins Byron Buxton was my favorite to seize the label of number one prospect in baseball entering 2014. Diamondbacks pitcher Archie Bradley ranked second as he pushed through High-A and finished April in the Southern League. Shortstop Francisco Lindor of the Cleveland Indians debuted in the third spot after a dominant month offensively. Twins’ Miguel Sano...

Dugout Digest - the rarest walkoff

The walkoff single. The walkoff homer. The walkoff double. The walkoff...walk. We've seen all of them this week. We've now also seen one of the most impossible walkoff hits for anyone to achieve: the walkoff triple. That's what happened in Minnesota yesterday, when Ryan Doumit of all players hit a walkoff triple to gvie the Twins a 5-4 win over the Mariners. With Minnesota...
