It took them long enough to realize that Lucas Duda wasn’t suited to play the outfield. It took them long enough to realize that Daniel Murphy worked way too hard to become a decent second baseman. It took them long enough to realize that Ike Davis needs alot of work in the Minors; so what took them so long to move Lucas Duda to first base? Over the winter I suggested not so softly that the Mets should trade Davis for a outfielder (in this case, I suggested Justin Upton when he was a Diamondback), then move Duda to first. Oh no someone suggeted to me that they would lose Davis’ glove. Two things: Davis glove is overrated, he was good but his hitting has affected his fielding so basically I’d rather take my chances with Duda. See what the big slugger can do and maybe work his way into being a core player for the Mets, if not then boost his trade value and get a power hitting outfielder for him in return. Look, the Mets are not winning either way with Davis at first and they have w...

Fred Wilpon Believes In Sandy Alderson

Fred Wilpon spoke with Steven Marcus of Newsday on Monday and said he is confident in Sandy Alderson’s plan for the Mets. The Mets owner added that things will improve now that the big unproductive contracts are coming off the books. “We’re coming to the end of the time when we have had an overhang of players who got hurt or didn’t play well, and I think that Sandy Alderson...

Mets P Zach Wheeler doused with beer by teammates after sparkling debut (video)

An unfamiliar feeling of hope for the future resonated all around the New York Mets at Turner Field on Tuesday after two young, hard-throwing arms in the team’s starting rotation came out with brilliant pitching performances in a doubleheader sweep of the Atlanta Braves. First up was Matt Harvey, who had yet another brilliant [...]The post Mets P Zach Wheeler doused with beer...

MMO Player Of The Week: Oh Captain, My Captain

David Wright, 3B MMO Player of the Week! Just when we thought it couldn’t get any worse, the Mets go ahead and prove us wrong. Although it’s a long shot to say that anybody was expecting to win a series against the best team in baseball (and the way this team was playing, against the Cubs), hopes were not high coming into the week. The streaky defense and simply atrocious offense...

Capt Kirk wins it on a walk off

Been really tough to watch the Mets this year as all us die hards know.  Even for me I just cant sit night after night watching the Mets score one or 2 runs with 5 hits.  ZZZZZ  .  My partners in crime text me and ask are you watching this mess and I usually tell them I am busy with other things.  A 2 year old will do that to you.   Of course yesterday being fathers day...

The Mets Are Just About Inventing New Ways To Lose Baseball Games

Normally when a pitcher throws a complete game on the road, it means they won. However, Mets fans know better than to think they are anything close to normal. One night after the Mets continued the downward spiral of humanity by celebrating a game they didn’t deserve to win, Karma reared her ugly head and forced some the Mets’ own medicine down their throat. Dillon Gee had perhaps...

Brooklyn Cyclones ‘ Matt Oberste Interview

Matt Oberste grew up in Oklahoma as a lone ranger. As the majority of the population flocked to the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers, he sought solace with another team: The New York Mets. His favorite player? David Wright, who he modeled himself after growing up. Oberste was selected by the Mets in the seventh-round of the 2013 MLB Amateur Draft and quickly signed with the...

Matt Harvey, Overwhelming

Matt Harvey didn’t throw a no-hitter against the Braves on Tuesday, but he did almost do that, not allowing a hit until the bottom of the seventh. It’s not that Harvey relied entirely on the strikeout — of the batters he faced, 13 didn’t whiff. But then, of the batters he faced, 13 did whiff, and Harvey’s season rate is verging on 30%. Matt Harvey was already good a year...
