Dunn and Dunner:
" 'cause I'm the king of wishful thinking" - Go West (click for the song)I normally try to not read stuff Hal McCoy writes because he sucks 99% of the time, but regardless I was bored today so I caught up on some of his bablings. On his Sunday story he had some gibberish from Dusty talking about how he loves everything about the Reds, although a week ago he said how its not his team yet names pretty much every player on the team in this interview as being good, and how they are going to be better next year. In that story he also stated something about Jerry Hairston Junior.
Jay Bruce talks to Albert Pujols and Lance Berkman about hitting," Baker added. "He's very inquisitive and Berkman told him he'll take control and be comfortable in a year. Joey Votto is going to be better. We have young guys like Chris Dickerson and hopefully we re-sign Jerry Hairston Jr. and we hope he stays healthy.
Every morning I wake up and hope I trip over a pile of cash, but most of the time I just trip over my dogs shit who apparently couldn't figure out where the doggy door is again. The point is hope is just a pointless word that you normally put in front of something that likely isn't going to happen.
What is the biggest problem with wanting Jerry Hairston back is that Dusty will play him no matter what his production is next time because of this years production. It's hard to discount how good Hairston has been since the Reds purchased his contract from AAA (.338/.388/.475), but remember this guy is in his mid 30's, never really been that good, and is never healthy. If we had any other manager I would be happy to bring Hairston back, but we have Dusty Baker who has continued to give Corey Patterson tons of AB's in the top of his order(because we need speed), chose to play Paul Bako over every other catcher even though he hasn't hit since the 1st month of the year, and refuses to build a line up that isn't completely based on what his eyes tell him.
Not to mention Hairston is a Jehovah's Witness. I once had a Jehovah's Witness try to break into my house so he could hand my mom the pamphlets saying we need to be a part of the chosen ones or what ever those things say when I was a kid. Luckily my dad was there to scare him away like a raccoon that gets into the garbage.
**Note I have nothing against Jehovah Witness's I have a few of them as friends and lived with one for a year, he hates them though**
