The National League Division Series between the NL Central Champion Reds and NL West Champion Giants has boiled down to a winner-take-all affair on Thursday afternoon. With the series tied at two games a piece, the two clubs will clash one final time in Game Five for the right to move on to the NLCS.
Although the Giants clearly have momentum on their side at this point, here are eight reasons why the Redlegs will survive and advance:
1) The Reds have already beaten Giants ace Matt Cain three times this season. The right-hander is 0-3 with a 5.50 ERA in those outings.
2) No National League team has ever blown a 2-0 lead in the League Division Series. That dates back to 1995 and includes 21 different clubs.
3) Cincinnati hasn't won a home playoff game, or playoff series, in 17 years. Their last came in '95 when they swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS.
