Rob from Long Island sent in an e-mail saying: “This may seem a little far fetched and probably unpopular, but what are your thoughts on the Mets offering Johan Santana to the Yankees? I’m not sure what he’d bring in return, but I know they would be willing to part with Jesus Montero and a pitching prospect in return for top-end pitching. Would that be enough? I know Johan is coming off of injury, but it seems like the Yankees are pretty desperate for pitching. It might be the best time to trade him seeing as the free agent pitching market isn’t a very good one. The goal would be to continue rebuilding and to bring back Jose Reyes with the money they save. This would obviously hurt the Mets pitching, but we didn’t have Johan all of last year anyway and he’s only getting older.
