Center fielder Emilio Bonifacio and starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez both won their hearings for arbitration against the Miami Marlins this week.
Bonifacio, current starting center fielder and utility player, won his case against the Fish on Wednesday, February 8th. Miami offered him $1.95M, a little below his asking price. Bonifacio will instead be making $2.2M this season, a price well higher than his 2011 earnings of $425K.
Emilio had a .298 BA, the highest average on the team in 2011, along with the most hits, 167. The payday for Boni was a well-deserved one, in my opinion.
Right-handed starting pitcher Sanchez made his case on Friday, February 3rd. Anibal was seeking $8M, while the Marlins countered with a $6.9M offer. Sanchez won, making his 2011 earnings of $3.7M seem miniscule.
Sanchez put out a 8-9 record in '11, along with a 3.67 ERA. Anibal is probably getting more than what he should, but if he performs like he can in 2012, he'll obviously be w...
