PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (AP) -- Evan Longoria hit a two-run double Friday, helping the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 despite a rough outing for AL Cy Young Award winner David Price. Price was hit hard, allowing eight hits -- though only two runs -- in four innings. Kevin Frandsen had two hits off the left-hander, including a solo homer in the third. Michael Young also drove in a run off Price with a first-inning single, the last of three straight hits the Phillies put together to begin the game. The Rays minimized the damage against their ace with good defense.

Lefty hurler Adam Morgan progressed more than any other Phillies prospect over the past year.  Drafted in the third round in 2011 out of the University of Alabama, Morgan quickly made an impact in the Phils’ system upon debuting as a pro, and only sped up his progress last season when he became a force on the pitching mound. After posting a 3-3 record with a 2.01 ERA in 11 starts...

The championship era could be coming to a close. Roy Halladay’s velocity could be a concern

Roy Halladay is one of the most accomplished pitchers in the majors, but his velocity will likely be a concern this season and moving forward. Halladay turns 36 in May. He missed time last season with a lat injury, and he experienced shoulder problems that he attributed to a back issue. Though he pitched extremely well in April, he struggled in May before going on the disabled list...

Young completes community service

By May, as long as Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Delmon Young remains on good behavior, his name will be cleared. He pleaded guilty to aggravated harassment and as part of the plea, agreed to serve 10 days of community...
