Tribune News Services TOKYO -- Former Kansas City Royals pitcher Brian Bannister has signed a contract with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Central League. The 29-year-old right-hander signed a one-year deal worth $1.8 million Saturday. Bannister went 7-12 with a 6.34 ERA in 24 games for the Kansas City Royals before becoming a free agent at the end of the 2010 season. He is the son of former major league pitcher Floyd Bannister, who pitched for Japan's Yakult Swallows in 1990.
