Starting pitchers around the league were all a little giddy when they heard about the contract that Seattle Mariners starting pitcher was preparing to sign--a seven year extension for $175 million. These guys are not foolish of course; they don't think he's going to spread the wealth or nothing. He may buy the first round or two after the next game, but that's about it. No, guys like Clayton Kershaw, David Price, and Justin Verlander are happy because King Felix and the Mariners have set the bar. And it's a bar they like. However, according to some reports that have hit the web over the weekend they may not want to get too excited just yet.
