Cuban-born rookie sensation Yasiel Puig was a much anticipated guest at Marlins Park. Fellow countryman Jose Fernandez reminded him and everyone else who owns the place. Fernandez dominated the ballyhooed match-up holding Puig hitless in three at-bats including a three-pitch strikeout on 97-mph fastballs with two on in the fifth. That effort helped propel the Marlins to a 6-2 win in front a robust and enthralled Monday night crowd of 27127. "There was definitely electricity tonight" manager Mike Redmond said. "I think our guys fed off that not only the team we were playing…but they fed off the crowd as well. They were into the game and Fernandez set the tone." Winners of 19 of 21 on the road and 25 of 29 overall since the All-Star break the Dodgers had allowed six or more runs twice in their last 39 games since July 5. They scratched out two (one earned) off Fernandez during his six-inning career-high 109-pitch performance. "As a team I think it was amazing" said Fernandez who accounted for one of seven two-out Marlins' hits. "We just beat the best team in baseball and to me that was the most important part. As a personal goal I think I could have pitched a lot better but we got the win and I'm really excited about the way we won that game."
