The short tenure of Emil Brown, for now, has come to an end. Unfortunately for Brown, if he never returns to the Mets he will be remember for one of the most bizarre double plays in team history. The umps miss called a fly out by Brown which resulted in Brown passing Castillo ( automatic out) and then Castillo getting tagged out. Brown appeared in three games, five at-bats in which he hit .200. Fernando Martinez has appeared in nine games, 30 at-bats in which he's also hitting .200. After a lengthy discussion the team decided to keep Martinez over Brown. Looks like Jerry lost this one, as he had said on Thursday, that he thought he needed veterans and that Martinez and Murphy were still at a stage where they could be complimentary players but not main pieces. The Mets announced that Emil Brown has been designated for assignment, confirming rookie Fernando Martinez will remain in the majors with Ryan Church being activated from the DL on Sunday. source Daily news
