Finally, the last installment of our delayed series. Here's why it took so long today: There were a lot of relievers to pitch for this team.
And despite all the shuffling, which included three stints on the DL for closer Frank Francisco, the Rangers had the best save percentage in the majors (77.6). The bullpen was a real concern heading into the season, but waiver-claim addition Darren O'Day helped roles start to settle. And LHP C.J. Wilson's ability to shuttle between the closer's role and being the primary setup man helped the Rangers safely navigate the treacherous waters that were churned up when Francisco kept returning to the DL. The bullpen was consistently good throughout the season, which is one of the reasons the club was 77-6 when it took a lead to the eighth inning. The Rangers won more games when leading after seven than in any season since 1999. Overall position: Grade: B+.
