A chill is in the air in Philadelphia as postseason baseball is right around the corner, but before the Phillies kick off the second season next week they'll have a final tune up over the next three days at Citizens Bank Park with the Marlins in town. Which made me wonder: when you're a member of a baseball team from Florida, where do you plan your off-season golfing trips to?
The bad news of the day is J.C. Romero likely being gone for the remainder of the season and Chan Ho Park potentially missing the NLDS. The bullpen had plenty of issues towards the back end all season but with the loss of Moyer, Park, and now Romero, the entire 'pen can be thrown into the "anybody's guess on how they'll fare in October" category.
The Phillies site has Blanton, Hamels, and TBA listed as the starters for this weekend's wrap up series. It appears as if Charlie is going to give his starters sporadic breaks with Jimmy, Raul, and Feliz getting the night off this evening allowing Cairo (SS), Francisco, and Dobbers to get some late season at bats.
It's time for rest, not rust. Even with many of the regulars seeing time on the bench to allow a few bruises to heal, it would be real nice to see the Phillies head into the NLDS coming off a series win.
The Phils sit one game back from the Dodgers for the best record in the National League and L.A. facing the Rockies this weekend. St. Louis sits one game back of the Phils with a weekend set with the Brewers at Busch Stadium.
Game time temps will be in the low 60's tonight so bring those hoodies.
